      Dealing with doubt

I have been confident for a while now that if I could just get rid of my doubt, I'll be able to LD. I have been trying to do this for a few days now, without success. I always have a small amount of doubt left, no matter what I do. In normal life, this helps me (meaning I don't want to just get rid of all doubt about everything) because I always question everything, and I'm better than some people at recognizing scams, but with LDing, it's been a detriment. Can someone help me deal with this problem? (And I'm sure I'm not the only person with this problem, to varying degrees. A solution to this might help many people get their first LD (or even people who are in droughts), not just me.)

EDIT: I should clarify what I mean by doubt. I don't mean that I doubt in a dream if I'm dreaming, I mean that I doubt throughout the day if I will have a LD that night, and because of that, I don't.

My username does not mean anything. It's not supposed to signal my religious preferences at all.

What you need is to set yourself up for success so that you do not have to think about it so much. At the moment I do not have time to retype the method (it has changed a little since I wrote it up last). But this is a link to one I wrote a while back that you can read over in the eman time. I may write up a new draft today.

Instead of focusing on your doubt about having one this very night, think more in terms that you know you will have one sometime soon, as long as you keep working at it.

Try to set up a goal. Such as, I will get Lucid by the end of the week. Or, maybe the end of the month, depending on what you think is most realistic for you. Then put all of your effort into focusing on that, instead of worrying too much about one specific night.

Even if you don't make the goal, don't fret too much. Just set the goal again and keep working at it. Once you get the first one, And you will, then you will know for sure you can do it.

Remember, it's all about patience, and persistence.
