      Everyday, same hour; same check

This is a directed to those who would gladly like to give their opinion on this idea of "attaining lucidity"

Everyday on the same hour - 8:00 pm/am for example - do 4 reality checks with in that hour. One at the beginng of that hour, 15min. in that hour, 30min. in that hour, and at the end of that hour. Not just waiting for that hour to come, but constantly reminding yourself and telling yourself, "At hour 8, I will do 4 reality checks."

Any thoughts are very much obliged.

I think the important part is being able to remember to reality check, especially at specific times. It doesn't always have to be the time but maybe like seeing a red car, or every time you check the time, that sort of thing.

Thanks for pointing this out for other people

Basically how I see the reality check method is that it is a skill that needs to be practiced over and over for one to become good at it. I would say based of that, reality check should be done as much as possible, of course I am not fixed on this and there may be other methods to become "good" at reality checks, so I think we should have a volunteer to do this and record the success rate and see what happens.

There is one method that I used to use. It was that I would, at the last five minutes before going to bed, do continuous reality checks and then go to bed. This kind of gives an idea that reality check skill becomes stronger in the same way that muscles do when weightlifting.

The most important part is questioning reality. Turn it into an automatic thing and it kinda defeats the point.

I think that if you ARE questioning reality, it is not a bad idea.

Personally I like to do a few RCs throught the day. I don't use a watch-beep for my RCs, partly because I don't have a beepy-watch, partly because I am worried that if I only RC when my watch beeps I will only do that in drams. I dont think I even wear a watch in dreams.

I was thinking of trying the MILD/DILD so I'll be doing RCs now, I have a watch I wear all the time even when I sleep but the sound card it broken lol

But I'm wondering, would it help if I were to do reality checks at 2 - 3 pm thus the opposite of my nightime REM cycle, am I just being silly, or would this change my results considerably?

Relying on a time or visual.audio event to do an RC means they may not occur in dreams. Remember to RC/question reality on your own, and it will pay off.
