Does anyone know of a good WBTB and MILD combined tutorial? If so please post here. :)
It's in the tutorials section....
Do WBTB, then while you're awake, MILD.
Those are two different techniques, and there are guides for both of them.
There is no special way of combining them. Perform a WBTB and then perform a MILD.
Well, Technically WBTB is not much of a technique on it's own but it's used to aid you (combine) with other techniques but I do get what you were saying.
To the actual question though: Like someone said, it's all in the tutorials section to be honest. All you have to do is lie down in bed for 5-10 mins and think of a phrase like " I will realize I am dreaming" or "When I see my dream sign I will realize I am dreaming" . Don't rush it but rather take your time to say it enough times as you want. Next you just wake up in the night ( hopefully from a dream), write down your dream and then go to bed , using the same phrase. It may take some time but oh well.
Stephen Laberge though (This Amazing guy who studies dreaming) says he just chooses when he wants to have a lucid dream. I doubt he wakes up in the night then goes back to bed. From what I read on the internet though, you could be 60% more likely to have a lucid dream if you DO use the WBTB method at night. This is because your re-affirming it.
Once again:
1. Lie in bed for 5-10 mins saying your phrase. Make it not to long, like a nice simple sentence, that will make you realize you are dreaming.
2. Go to sleep once you feel confident in this.
3* Optional. Wake up ( you can use an alarm). I'd say maybe 4.5 or 6 hours into sleep. Write down any dreams. Repeat Steps 1 & 2.
4. Realize you are dreaming!
That's all there is to it. Right now I'm also working on the MILD but I haven't had a good nights sleep for the past couple of days, so I'm just focusing on fixing my sleep schedule right now..
That depends entirely on how you use it. Just waking up, drinking a glass of water and then going back to sleep makes me wake up more often. I'd definitely call that a technique.Quote:

I've gotten lucids from doing a WBTB where I fall asleep in like 1 min after I turn off the alarm. disrupting sleep without even using MILD seems to sometimes work.
Thank you so much for the replies!
And I do have a question. If you keep practicing MILD, will it be easier to do it in the future?

I guess so. I remember after having 1 lucid dream it was easy to get the rest. ( as long as I was still interested in Lucid Dreaming)
In Stephen LaBege's book he says now he can have lucid-dreams any night he wants, and I'm pretty sure he uses the MILD technique because he created it:P ( or was the first to record it I guess)
I prefer to do my WBTB with somewhat of a WILD attempt. It does not always work and perhaps would be better to combine with DEILD instead of WILD, but yesterday the whole WBTB mixed with WILD technique worked. I did it twice and had 2 False Awakenings. Of coarse there could be a possibility that the only reason the WILD part worked was because I woke myself up enough to do so. Anyway, you should try WILD. I think everyone should because sleep paralysis is not really as scary as people make it out to be. I've about 4 WILDs in the past month and about a year ago I had alot(more than I wanted). You should try it because it is an interesting form of getting lucid. However if you wish to stick to WBTB and MILD, Marcher22 seemed to be on to something with his first post.
Yes, it will get easier!
MILD relies on using your prospective memory! It's like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it gets!
What you're doing is training yourself to remember to remember!
A very good excercise for this is practicing your MILD's during the day!
What you want to do is pick a random cue in the morning! Maybe a dreamsign but it doesn't have to be, since in this case your trying to train your prospective memory!
Each day you do it you choose a different cue!
So for example you choose people who are wearing hats.
In the morning you say your mantra : "If i see someone wearing a hat, i will RC to this!"
Repeat this mantra for a few times.
Then visualize yourself running into someone with a hat, and doing an RC to it!
Then repeat this progress : say your mantra a few times, visualize, repeat...
Then you go through your day, and see how many times you've RC'd to people with hats!
The first day you use this you might forget to RC alot (or hopefully only a few) of times to RC to your cue, depending on how good your prospective memory is to begin with. But the more you'll use this method, the better you'll get at remembering to RC to these cue's!
So using this you will train your prospective memory, and increase your chances of succesfully using MILD to induce lucid dreams!
Also, some people just use mantra's when they MILD, but it has been proven that visualizing yourself achieving this mantra increases your chances of doing it!
Like i said in the other thread, these techniques take time and effort to master! Naturally the more you use em, the easier they will get! As it is with most things you learn in life!
Wow, thank you for all the replies guys! And sorry for the double post.
Marcher22: Yeah, I think LaBerge might use the MILD tech to get lucid anytime he wants!
feist303: Wow! I will try this!
Also, feist303, while I am RCing to, say, people with hats in the day; should I also be doing it to my dream signs too?
Ofcourse, keep RC'ing to your dreamsigns as usual! That's very important if you want to learn to recognize em in your dreams!
You can use the excercise i said on one of your dreamsigns.
But if you're already used to RC'ing to your dreamsigns (= you always remember to RC to em), you can use other things wich aren't dreamsigns! (like people with hats)
Haha okay. Thank you ;)
One more annoying question. Do you WILD to get your lucid dreams?
I use DILD's! I've had about 200 lucids in the past 2 years! Only one of em was a WILD!
Actually i did that WILD last night, for the first time! It was awesome! Haha! :)
There are many people who use both WILD and DILD, but most probably relly on one of the two to get most of their LD's!
For most people DILD's are easyer to achieve then WILD's... (i say for most, for some WILD's are easier!)
As a beginner i recommend you to try DILD first!
Whoops, sorry, typo. :P I meant MILD.
Yes, i do! It's one of my favorite techniques and i would recommend it to everyone to try! Some people have mastered it and use it to LD at will!
Often i'll wake in the night and do some MILD excercises while falling asleep again!
the best i think is to just repeat the phrase
