      You guys are geniuses

Spinning works great. Thanks Dreamviews for alerting me to this method.
Not only can you do this to change scenes, but you can take dream characters with you by spinning while joining hands with them. I found that the scene does not change quite as dramatically if you try to take them with you... just color changes and room rearrangement... good enough.

Anyway, total lucidity is still pretty cheap.
I much rather prefer to think I am in a real situation with altered physics. Complete control is not quite as exiting because you tend to loose spontaneity and unpredictability.
Take for instance the other night.

My dad seemed to have car problems getting to work early on July 3rd.
I looked up in the sky and saw plasma raining down like meteorites all over the waterfront.
I dodged them but then rising sun grew in size and intensity by about 600% and my skin began to melt.

An alien voice from the sky said something like "this is the end that has been coming for thousands of years."
My family and I ran as our flesh boiled. The shockwave from the sun lifted us off our feet and I saw a swamp ahead where we landed as the shockwave passed over. My sister applied some lotion to the terrible sun burn. Then the second wave hit. Volcanoes erupted from the beach off in the distance, sending a torrent of lava water our way. We were swept up, and I felt my body melt.

Ok, I thought I was a gonner. The pain was exhilarating. Knowing you are going to die turns out to be not such a big deal after all. Then I caught glimpse of nephews foot, and I grabbed hold, thinking its better that he know I was there. Then I felt a pull, and I let go and swam to land as he was pulled out.

I looked down and I looked like a cooked marshmallow. I was on the local college campus where everyone was gathered, nursing their wounds. I offered my service, and then...
Some freak started to light off fireworks, which startled everyone.

I started singing the Star Spangled Banner, and led everyone in a parade as they joined the song.
I jumped and flew over buildings and archways as everyone else marched behind me.

      The end.

      Ahahaha ... oh, wow.

I think you trailed off from your original point, just a little bit. You were going to tell us about why spontaneity was so great, and then this? To be honest, being melted and almost dying in an apocalypse doesn't sound so great, so I'm going to stick with near total dream control ... xD

Great dream, though, and glad to see you had success with spinning
