      Burnt out on astral projection?

A quick question about astral projection: Is it possible to get burnt out on it?

I'm new to it, and I just wonder would trying it every day cause someone to get burnt out? And if so, what would be a suitable time frame between trying?

"Burnt out" is a pretty broad term so it's hard to know exactly what you mean by it, but I've always correlated it with doing too many psychedelics. If you mean it in the same way as "acid burnt" then I would think no, you can't. Just because with acid or other psychedelics you're introducing a foreign chemical to your system which your body has no choice but to process which, when done overwhelmingly, may begin to take a permanent toll of your psyche.

In the case of astral projection your body is producing the effect naturally, from chemicals that already exist within you that are already released on a nightly basis (so I would think.. that it is biologically similar to dreaming). I'd think that if you were pushing your body too hard, astral projecting too much, it would just stop working. You'd run out of juice..

You may want to hear some other's input before you start going crazy with it though. Do some more research. I don't have much personal experience with astral projection.

Well by "burnt out" I meant it like you're trying and trying to do it, but you can't achieve it because you're trying too frequently and sort of tiring your mind out.

Hmm.. well in that case, then I would think yes. Everyone is different, but I think most people (unless, of course, you have a natural talent) experience stale moments in their lucid dreaming endeavors so I'd imagine the same thing translates to astral projection. Doesn't mean to stop trying, just maybe give yourself a break every once in a while. Wouldn't want to get bored with something so fun just because you do it too often.

When I was visualizing my chakras as discussed in another thread my entire third-eye world was burning. An ancient rainforest in flames. I took this to mean that I was, as you put it, "burnt out." When I made my OBE and LD attempts I really pushed hard - even harder when I was trying dream re-entry to get details from a PK dream. So to answer your question, as the previous poster already stated, I would say yes. It is certainly possible to try too often at too high a level.

I can't say for sure as I have little or no experience here, but I would say it's OK to try often as long as you are not forcing it. In this case you would use affirmations before you went to sleep and the body's natural processes to project. It's also OK to try hard once a week. But I would advise against doing both just to be safe.
