      Loud buzzing,Beggining of a OBE?

      OK,i'll make this short and sweet,last night april 19,20th? i woke up at 4:30 a.m. (i think)

I did a RC by looking at my clock,it said 5:05,i looked back again then it said 4:31,and i didn't pay much attention to it and at this point i was to tired to care what the time really was when :

I lie back down to go to sleep and i heard a buzzing noise,it kept me up untill 5:01 (i think)

Can someone tell me if this is a beggining of an OBE?

      Thanks

I have encountered two types of buzzing noises. More commonly is the high pitched whine, that a TV or computer might make. The other would be a low, deep reverberating *v-oo-OO-oo-...* like a light saber.

The light saber in my experience signals the start of a WILD, and these can start to happen anywhere from ten to three seconds before a WILD begins.

Forgive me, but it's been a while since I have had an OBE. The tell tale sign of an OBE, right before it happens, is a distracting tickling sensation of the stomach. After that, feelings of dizziness and disconnection as you rise out of your body.

You know, I do not notice the high pitched ringing in my ears much anymore. Honestly I forget what happens after it. If I recall correctly, it happens as sensation leaves the body. It could be right before SP, HI, or the dream. I cannot recall which. Hope that helps though.

      Pops

My OBEs have all happened directly out of sleep, so I hadn't noticed the feeling. All I know is I am suddenly moving along the ground really fast.

One time I did attempt to AP and was stuck by my head.

I sometimes hear pops or other sounds, but I try not to let them bother me.

      lost_in_reality,
I will tell you what I have told others. Let it happen. Command yourself to go out of body, and give it some time. I do, then a couple weeks down the road I typically have an OBE. The limited APs and OBEs I have had were "flukes" for no better word. I could not do it again if I had the motivation.

I am sure there are better methods, but this is a good for beginners or lazy people. It's a good starting point. Have a couple OBEs, then develop the control.

If you start to get this buzzing sounds again, and feel very light. The best advice I can give you would be to stay passive. Let everything come and go, try not to think to much.

What are you able to do in this state??? Can it be deadly?? Because I've heard of people having these experiences when they are pronounced medically dead, only to brought back to life. George Lucas was one of these people. (May the force be with you)?????

      lol but is it safe?

I believe you are completely safe while attempting OBE, and in an OBE state.
This is a widly asked question, and I have never heard of anyone getting hurt.

i see no reason to separate lucid dreaming and OBEs...what you describe (loud buzzing) is prototypical of all my sleep paralysis experiences, and is usually precursor to a WILD (or "OBE" as some term it).

NDEs and OBEs (or Wake Initiated Lucid Dreams) may seem similar, but you must remember that NDEs are caused by being dead or nearly dead. if you have a similar psychological experience it doesn't mean it will cause you to physically die..IMHO that is looking at it completely backwards

i've had at least a couple dozen WILDs (where i felt the buzzing/vibration) and rose out of my body in my "dreambody'. i can assure you i've always come back unharmed and even though i invariably start the lucid dream in a replication of my bedroom, i see no reason to believe it is my actual bedroom..

      Buzzing and obe

I've had 2 OBEs . First was around 14 years old and felt weird fuzzy and sort of intoxicated. I began to drift to sleep. A strange buzzing began circling my head and the intoxicated feeling felt good and the buzzing was neat so I embraced it and tried to make it louder, etc. I had no idea what I was experiencing. My next memory was walking down the sidewalk in Venice beach and nobody acknowledging me and seemingly unaware of my presence. I've had lucid dreams since I was a child and there is an absolute distinction between LD and OBE. I believe people in here associate the 2 too closely far too often. My 2nd OBE was a few years ago and when I heard the buzzing I knew what I was in for so again I embraced it. As in lucid dreams I attempted to see how high I could fly but since the OBE is distinctly different I didn't get spooked at my altitude and tumble back to earth.
I made it all the way into space as it was pretty instantaneous. Again since its far different than An LD.
A fatherly voice spoke and named the different star systems and stars... Vega, Sirius, Pleiades, as a childs voice repeated them as if in class. I recognized the voice as mine as a child. Then the voice said " to know who you really are, you must go back before you were even a sperm"
      Not sure why "sperm"
Perhaps that's the moment the soul enters the physical body.
THEN I got spooked and headed back to my body and was anxious to fearing I might not be able to.
As I came to on the couch I tried to get up immediately but my physical body was still in paralysis mode and my arm was tingingly badly and asleep. So I struggled to lift it to stretch it and realized my whole body felt disjointed. When I pointed my eyes down cuz my head was paralyzed I could see my arm laying next to me, yet I was flexing it up and down and was waving it in front of my face but couldn't see it. I was not completely back in my body!
Anyway the buzzing is the oncoming of an OBE in my experience. I never knew this until a couple years ago after my 2nd OBE. I googled OBE head buzzing and got Goosebumps at the results. That is when I knew for sure my experience at 14 was an OBE and not just a weird dream or even a lucid dream.
