      Observer of Life

What might it mean to you if someone came up and said that instead of living life they observe life or instead of being part of life they are merely outside of life or instead controlling life they wish to watch the growth of humanity?

Btw what if they then told you knowledge is not power, but wisedom is? Doesn't it seem natural that anyone can receive knowledge, but in order to use knowledge you must first be wise enough to understand it.

leo sitting on your ass all day and watching TV is not observing life. Its just like Platos simile of the Cave.

AHiddenSaint: i think that if you want to try and understand life you have to participate in society etc and not just observe. This is because you can become to analytical and over intelectualize things and loose your sence of humanity

If someone told me the first paragraph, I would tell them they might as well be dead. They obviously have no appreciation for their own life. I'm not so sure the second statement is a question. I agree, though. Wisdom > Knowledge.

The point is awareness!. You can live life but truly observe life in a non -egoic fashion.
You do not have to control life to live it and appreciate it.
Many of us blindly do. MEMEMEMEMEMEME. And never look out side of themselves.
      Quite sad really.

And where have you gotten your endless void of information? Have you just been blessed with all your philosophies? Or do you transpire to read and gain knowledge through whichever medium you choose?

Isn't that what the meaning of reflection is? We are the very part of life itself, but when we become lost in our own thoughts we lose sight of our own existances? Lets say I decided to observe life for just one day. As I watched everyone else wouldn't I be able to understand the very simple things that I wouldn't normally notice?

      peace

This totaly contridicts my work on dreams, but...
Like I said I think it would be very peacfull to live life as simply an observer. I was trying to life my life this way, untill I got interested in dream work. Now I am trying to see myself deeper thu the dreams and I should probably stop analysing myself, but it is fun.. Still when being the observer I must keep opinions out of it. I am simply an observer, meaning the things I observe flow in and out of me like fresh waters. I got nothing out of observing except peace and minfulness, and that is exactly what I was looking for. So being the simple observer in my sense takes suffering out of my life , because to be detatched to what I am observing really means to forget what I observed. Witch is the opposite of dream work. Im just analysing my dreams for a few more months then It will be back to mindless, mindfullness bliss.

and the knowledge vs. wisdome thing....

I have never been very knowledgeable, lol. I do like to think I have always been wise in the sense that I always view all sides. A nice slogan I heard......

the functional differance between knoledge and wisdome is...The flow of awarness

Knowledg is somthing you get from text or from a set frame of mind, while wisdome comes strait from intuition of maybe even a higher level of the quantum field. Im a nut what can I say,.. but I love this topic.

Observing may be peaceful, but that's living afterlife not life, if you ask me. Also knowledge and wisdom does you absolutely no good if you are simply observing and cannot communicate.

Some live their life in fear, others have a death wish. Those are your two extremes, and I think they are both wrong. They both have drawbacks, I think it's a trade-off. I think the good answer is balance. Embrace the strengths of each, make it work for you.

I have another idea. What if... the best answer to A or B is always a balance of A and B? Logically, A AND B implies A OR B.
