      About meditation...

I have a simple question regarding meditation - I'm not way into metaphysics or anything, but I was wondering:

When I meditate, after a while (like, 10 or 15 minutes, I can begin to feel this kind of strange pressure on my forehead, like something is there, resting on top of it. After meditating a bunch oh times, I seem to be able to manipulate the location of the pressure, it's natural state after prolonged meditation seems to be as a focused dot of pressure in the center of the forehead right above my eyes. I can still move it around if I want, but that seems where it's most comfortable.

Does anyone else get this too? Is this what people call "chi"? Is it just an illusion that my mind's making up?

The forehead is a special place because it has an energy center there known as the third eye chakra. Plenty has been posted in this Beyond Dreaming forum. Search for "third eye".

yup, definitely investigate the "third eye" (or even "chakras" in general).

As we meditate, we decrease stimuli from bodily movement, sight, thoughts, etc. As a result, we experience hypersensitivity. So the slightest tensing of a muscle can result in a powerful feeling. Next time you feel this, see if you can relax the muscles in your face and forehead. This will often eliminate the sensation. Even if you can't eliminate it that way, don't assume any "metaphysical" explanations. You may just still have far to go in teaching your muscles to relax. We can often remain tense while thinking we experience total relaxation.

People often experience all sorts of weird things during meditation, particularly during the first few months of their practice. We then get excited and make much of it. But this ususally just distracts us. Meditation should focus awareness or end thought. Even a weird metaphysical sensation distracts us from that. So I suggest, regardless of the cause of the sensation, either eliminate it or ignore it.

      Zen

I saw a commercial one time that where a lady could reach a zen like state in minutes (I think it was for Fit-TV). I am not sure what "zen-like" is but it sounds good.
