I need advise related to haunted Houses

As I type right now I'm very nervous and excited at the aspect of staying at a friends house who claims it's haunted. What is interesting is she claims that she that the ghost has spoken back. She is someone who has actually been able to talk to spirits since she was little. She and the family even knows the name, but they aren't threaten by this spirit. I've always wanted to see what would happen with my ownself if I was in a place like that. I'm meeting with my friend in june should I try to see about maybe visiting the place sometimes just to see if anything does happen? What is some advise people here have on this type of exploring?

Hrm... not much advice to give, really. If she has been able to see/communicate with spirits for a long time and she and her family say it’s not threatening then I say just go to the house and see what happens. Not all ‘haunted houses’ are scary ones and in this case, from what it sounds like, you have nothing to worry about.

If you (or anyone reading this for that matter) have any questions, please feel free to PM me and I’ll be happy to talk about it some more. Given the general viewpoint of this forum and the avidity of some members to shoot down any belief that is remotely ‘paranormal’, I’m not entirely comfortable going into detail about the whole seeing ghosts thing at this time.

I would love to just see. Even with the astral projection, remote viewing, and dreaming states I go in with objectivity that I do not claim it was something real. I know the mind can play tricks on a person, but I want to test my senses. Ghost scare the heck out of me, but I'm willing to try to overcome my fears of what I do not understand. This would be a test of my will and my ability to see understanding beyond what we all know.

I can sense them too. The important thing is to keep a positive attitude. If you think it's scary, you will have a terrible experience, instead you should see the unknown as exciting. If they communicate with you, they could be lying. Just a caution, they have no real reason to tell the truth.

By the way, I just noticed the similarities between both of your names. A Lost Soul, A Hidden Saint.

I'll take that advise with me. I still do not know yet if it is going to happen. It all depends on if they need my help because a friend of mine is about to under go surgery. I gave them the offer that while my friend is away if they need some help I do not mind. That was pretty much why I took this name on a long time ago because I'm willing to put my friends above myself.

Rather A Lost Soul is really lost or merely seeking greater wisedom I'm sure has a reason for the name just as I do mine. I will always be here to help those that might need my help, but I will never put myself above anyone just because of a name. I'm pretty sure there is a lot I can learn from both of you no matter how wise I might become or how niave I might be seen. So I do not know yet if we are similar or the oppsites only time will tell. Yet I welcome A Lost Soul as a friend just as i do anybody else.

This Lost Soul is only lost because she has a terrible sense of direction. I walk my life’s path not knowing where it is that I’m headed, but I know I’ll get there eventually. I’m just taking the scenic route.

I’m glad there are still a few people who are open to this and not so ready to criticize the idea that yes, some people actually do see dead people. I’ve been able to see and hear things that other people don’t since I was a very little girl, but I’ve learned to generally keep quiet about it.

It’s been my experience that ghosts, for the most part, aren’t hanging around to hurt anyone (although I’ve had a few of those encounters, too and they’re not fun at all). Have you had any inclinations like this before? If not, judging by what you’ve said so far, I think that this might be a good first experience. If possible, I’d visit the house at least once or twice before staying there. Depending on how sensitive you are to these things, you can feel it out, so to speak. I think Distant Clone had some good advice by suggesting to keep a positive outlook.

I wonder how many others can see ghosts and stuff but are keeping quiet about it for whatever reason? I’m curious now... It would be nice to not feel quite so... alone and different.

I never knew this about my friend till she talked to me over the phone. I had to keep quiet about what I have seen and felt because my parents believed my grandfather to be crazy. They even gave him electric shock therapy. I can't really see stuff, but I have always felt stuff. I love the show Ghost Hunters because it's showing the subject in a popular light. I believe that I am capable of visiting the spirit realm in my dreams. I also believe I have been visit by people there since I can not see them. My friend said she has always seen spirits and when she was little she used to speak to a old lady.

what you should do is hold a séance? it might sound a little creepy but maybe do it with a few friends so it's not just by yourself. go to the haunted house your friend lives in or wherever you want to do this. get a mirror over around 4-6 ft tall, a folding chair, and 2-3 blankets/towels. now understand this is really creepy but you have to try to relax yourself, this is why i said have friends present. find a small area in the house without a window (closet, laundry room, bathroom), it needs to be small. turn off all the lights of the room you are in and shut the door. place the blankets around the cracks to stop light from comming through. if there is a window in every room, find a small dark one and cover the window. place the folding chair like 4ft away from the mirror inside the room. the person that will communicate with the spirt must sit in the chair and MUST be the only one talking or making sounds, plus no sounds in the house (people talking, tv, music). stare into the mirror after your eyes adjust for 2/10 min. peacefully say the name of the person if you know it or say something like "i'm here for you." you may hear him/her and or see him/her. feel free to communicate in a nice way. if you don't think you can do it camly get a friend that has balls to do it. when u are done, say in a polite way "do you think you can go back now" and if it does say "close the gate" before you have anyone else make noise or hit lights or anything. WARNING: IF YOU HEAR OR SEE ANYTHING DARK OR DEMONIC SCREAM "CLOSE THE GATE" CONSTANTLY OPEN THE DOOR TURN ON TV'S AND LIGHTS AND LEAVE THE HOUSE/PLACE FOR 2/3 HRS.

I wouldn't advise conducting a seance at least not on your first experience... If you're curious about checking out this haunted house, here is my advice.. Go check it out, relax as much as you can, be sober, and keep an open mind. Take a tape recorder and tape your friend talking with them or something of that nature.
See ya on the other side...

i have had two experiences with ghosts. one was after me and my buddies went to this abandoned insane asylum and weird stuff started happeing, they wanted to leave and i wasn't driving, so we had to go. on the long road that led out, out from the brush came a bright light floating in the air. it came in through the passenger window as are SUV filled with smoke. it then hovered outside the windshield watching us the whole ride there. clearly you could see one of the guys that was murdered in the room and the murderer behind him wearing a facemask (hannibal mask).

the second, i went to a mansion in north jersey that was built in the 20's by a rich stockbroker. it burnt down in '68. i was taking pictures of the place and after looking through all of them i realized i could see him in one of the pictures.

if you don't believe me, i can prove it to you with other photos, videos, or i can talk to you about it. i never believed in ghosts till the first one that came into our SUV. (i know most of you won't believe me)

I do think TAPS is bringing a interesting look back to ghost. I believe you because although my seeing is not good I have been able to connect to my grandfather through dreaming. When I woke up his scent was also in the air. Watching Ghost Hunters has scared me on a lot of things, but then it has really shown a professionalism and it is also one of the big reasons I want to try this.

I would love to see more photos! A few of my friends and family members have had experiences with ghosts, but I never have (I don't know whether to count myself lucky or not ).

But I do believe in this phenomena, and would love to hear some of your stories. Maybe you should start a real-life ghost story thread in the Extended Discussion forum where people can share experiences and photos.

Oh man do I have stories... If a thread is started, I'd participate. It's just a matter of writing everything down and hoping people don't think I'm weird.

      Nah, you're not weird!

Seriously, though, someone should start that thread - I love hearing real-life ghost stories and experiences.

It is the people who are try to be normal you have to worry about. I never understood why people worried so much about this. Just be yourself and if someone does say you are weird then just ask them who decides what is normal? Maybe in my view I am normal.

If a thread got started I would have lots of true paranormal stories to share.
I work in a morgue and a funeral home.
Even when I was younger I had witnessed paranormal events.
      Yes....I got stories.

Please, do share! We could always just hijack this thread (if it's ok with HiddenSaint, of course). I'd love to hear other people's stories.

Edit: No hijacking necessary. I started a thread here.

A little scared about my trip

Don't ask me why but for some reason I've been very scared tonight. I'm sorry I haven't been posting as much on here but a lot has been happening this month, but what I'm scared about is what will happen to me. The trip is being schuduled for july 1st or around that date. I will post more when I am able to. I will be staying with my friend for almost two months in a haunted house.

One thing I'm nervous about is I do not want to be disrespectful to whatever might be there. I do plan to take my camera, but I'm worried about what presence that might have. I will have a computer so I'm wondering would people want me to post daily happenings if anything happens while I'm there? Plus things seem to have expanded because my friend who claims to be able to see spirits and know when things are around her has told me of other locations as well. We are talking about maybe visiting a few places during that time.

What is the best way I should go about with taking pictures and still be respectful to whatever might be there? Also some of my fears are about what will happening during my dreaming state. I can't really see spirits, but I have been a little sensative. My dreaming is also very strong so if any interactions were to happen it would be a greater possibility of it happening there. How would I safe guard myself on the dream level? Also does anyone know if by doing this I might awaken other parts of myself that I won't be able to shut off again?

P.S. please forgive me for typo's, grammar, or spelling because it is 5am as I write this. I'm just wondreing what advise others might have for me since so far everything is set for me to go. I'm just working on the flight there.

Hey, cool trip! I wish I was going with you.

You worry about respect? The best thing you can do while you are walking around is to talk out loud to them. Tell them you are curious and want to take pictures, but do not want to disturb them in any way. I think they will understand.

      Now for Dreaming!!!

How cool would it be to have a lucid dream in a haunted house?? That would be a 10... no 10+... Borderline 11!

      Please keep us posted.

Lucid dreams are very natural for me so that is why I figure I will have some while I'm there.

Next friday night I'll be staying in a haunted HOUSE

Well next friday is the big night. I'm going to try to bring my camera and the person I'm visiting has talked about visiting other haunted parts of the area. I'll try to post anything I find and will let know if anything odd happens with the dreaming field. There are two areas I'm going ot be exploring there. One area is a state between awaking and sleep that I have actually seen stuff, but when I get up it isn't there. Exploring this state should prepare me for anything that might happen while I'm there. Second area is lucid dreaming. I am a natural and basically DREAM god when it comes to dreaming so chances are I will be having some VERY interesting dreams. I have connected to the spirit world through my dreams so there is a CHANCE I might make contact that way. I've been preparing myself with safe guards since I'm opening my mind up to a lot, but I will let know anything that happens with the dreaming aspect of it.
