      Dream Sharing

I had an experience a few years ago when I was sharing a house with my brother. We were both in the kitchen one morning when my brother mentioned that he had had a really lucid dream that night and that I was in it. I replied that I had exactly the same happen to me. He asked what mine was about and I told him we were war correspondents in Somalia or somewhere and we were getting shot at by American helicopters. I stopped when I saw the look on his face. He told me that was the exact same dream as he had. Every detail I described he confirmed (but from his point of view.) The dream was quite long and very harrowing.

Has anyone else had this? Most people I tell don't believe me unless my brother is there to verify that it is true.

It's possible for two people to share the same dream (Mutual Dreaming) like you said. Did you and your brother happen to see "Blackhawk down" the night before?!!

Very good question, or maybe you guys saw, read, learnt about some other war???

But otherwise, you screwed up! Not really, I believe you because im open like that, but what I would encourage people to do in order to really "prove" there dream sharing is this...

After you told him sort of what the dream was about and he told you he experienced the same exact one, you should have asked him to give you some more details about the dream that only you and him would know, that way, you would know that he's not "lying" or maybe your dreams were just similar.

But then again, it is your brother, so im sure he wouldnt lie about his dream, but maybe he did just to make conversation(interesting).

Such things as dream sharing would seem to me to be only possible through forms of psychic connection.

ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) many people suspect is a force strong between family members and what might cause such a thing. The reason I believe this may be true is the following. (I assimiliated my theory from the following from many other sources and a plethora of debates, so keep in mind there will be a lot of controversial things here, lol).

If we were all to have a sense of energy within us, then in some way, we would also then be able to manipulate and control this energy. Unfortunately, overtime, with the lost of faith in religions and humanities morality, the energy has become much more selective over time. With this, the energy within everyone is typically controlled subconsciously. Whereas in the past, it seemed that some individuals were able to manipulate and control their energy (all the old myths, tales from the bibles, etc.) we have now become much more closed minded, and the oddities of our energy manipulation happens un-intentionally or subconsciously.

It is believe then that the selective connection for an individuals energy is in correlation to emotions (of course there are other possibilities.. but like I said, this is just a theory..). Connections to a family member would then obviously be stronger and thus, since dreams are the most dominant area for our subconscious, those connections will become active. Ergo, shared dreams may take place.

Of course this is just a theory, even myself do not believe in all the restrictions and stipulations set in the above.

But regardless, I hope it was enlightening the least,

This was back in the early nineties, way before 'Black Hawk Down' and Somalia.

Every detail I remembered, he did too.

We also had an experience that we both dreamed about a black panther roaming the house in the same night. Although I did not wake up, my brother said he awoke because of hot, fetid breath on his face from the creature standing right by his bed.

      Spooky, huh?
If you can keep your head when those around are losing theirs, you probably haven't got the faintest idea of what's going on.

I've had similar experiences. My hubby and I sometimes have the "same dream". Now we are not together in the dream, but we are going through the same dream. Maybe I tap into his dream or something. But we share the experience. Does that make sense?

These shared dreams are weird, let me tell you.

I've never had one with someone, but just the concept itself it odd.

How can two people, living separately, have their brains imagine the EXACT SAME dream? In addition, with the other person in it and, when compared, exactly the same but from the other person's point of view?

      Some deep questions...

Because you did not imagine it....

You are in fact in a separate plane of existance from this place.
That you and a person you know happened to be in the same place at the same time, thats the hard part, we probably encounter many people and have alot of shared dreams but we just dont know that person to confirm it. ...

      Also...

We are all connected, I have beleived this for quite some time, and second attention brought to light an experiment called the 100th monkey, that has science baffled and confused, much like quantum entanglement.

The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30years. In 1952, on the island of Koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoesdropped in the sand. The monkey liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirtunpleasant. An 18-month-old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream. She taught this trick to her mother. Her playmates also learned this new wayand they taught their mothers too.

This cultural innovation was gradually picked up by various monkeys before the eyes of the scientists. Between 1952 and 1958 all the young monkeys learned to wash the sandy sweet potatoes to make them more palatable. Only the adults who imitated their children learned this social improvement. Other adults kept eating the dirty sweet potatoes.

Then something startling took place. In the autumn of 1958, a certain number of Koshimam onkeys were washing sweet potatoes -- the exact number is not known. Let us suppose that when the sun rose one morning there were 99 monkeys on Koshima Island who had learned to wash their sweet potatoes. Let's further suppose that later that morning, the hundredth monkey learned to wash potatoes.

THEN IT HAPPENED! By that evening almost everyone in the tribe was washing sweet potatoes before eating them. The added energy of this hundredth monkey somehow created an ideological breakthrough!

But notice: A most surprising thing observed by these scientists was that the habit of washing sweet potatoes then jumped over the sea...Colonies of monkeys on other islands and the mainland troop of monkeys at Takasakiyama began washing their sweet potatoes. Thus, when a certain critical number achieves an awareness, this new awareness may be communicated from mind to mind.

Although the exact number may vary, this Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon means that when only a limited number of people know of a new way, it may remain the conscious property of these people.

But there is a point at which if only one more person tunes-in to a new awareness, a field is strengthened so that this awareness is picked up by almost everyone!

With this in mind the thought of two peoples consiousness bumping into each other in the dream world does not seem so far fetched.

This is an excerpt from the book by Ken Keyes, jr. "The Hundredth Monkey".

Look into morphogenic fields as well as The 100th monkey

      Cool. Will do!

I wonder what the critical mass of LDers would be to have a breakthrough?

I did a brief google for it this morning, lots of references.

I'm glad someone is now awake. It's been kind of lonely here today!

Just got back from amazon.com. Copies of The Hundredth Monkey can be had starting at $0.05 with around $3.50 shipping.

Guess I'll stop of at the used book store on the way home and see what they have. I should have enough used book credit to pick one up!

      Very interesting.

Reminds me of someone I knew who was Taoist. He said that they believed that everyone was part of the same soul, everybody was interconnected.

      That's why they're non-violent...they can't harm anything...they're vegetarians too. Like me .

After death, you are reincarnated until you learn life's major lessons. Nonetheless, this seems to be what some of you are talking about, that we all share the same soul and are connected somehow.

      *raises her hand*
Uhhh... no? I believe that my soul is my own, connected to no one, and part of nothing. By 'part of nothing' I mean that I do not feel that I am included in some big soul orgy. That, in my opinion, would give too much power to everyone else and not enough to the individual. We aren't Borg. We are separate, equal beings that walk our own paths. Again, though, this only reflects my own personal belief and I am by no means telling you guys how it is. The bottom line is: no one really knows the absolute truth except for whatever god-being created us.

I've thought about the reincarnation thing quite a bit. For a long time, I believed that a soul kept coming back until it learned a major lesson. But suddenly that didn't make sense to me anymore. I've been around for a long time... I can't tell you how I know that, but it's just something I feel. I know Serinanth has been around for an even longer time than I have, but we are both living now. What lesson would take so many lifetimes to learn? I altered my theory a bit by concluding that rather than learning one single lesson, we are reborn for some purpose or another. What that purpose is completely eludes me, though. I guess that's where faith and our personal beliefs come into play.

      ... I just went way off-topic, didn't I?

I didn't mean for that to mean everybody, but some people have suggested this belief. Sorry you took so much offense to it.

I agree though, what lesson could take hundreds of years and several lifetimes as either human, animal, etc., to learn?

*giggle* I didn't take offense, silly! I was hoping no one would take offense to what I said! I am extremely hard to offend, trust me. I was just blurting out an opinion and spilling my thoughts.

The lesson is perception i think?
To experience all? Swhy it takes such a long ass time, there is alot to see.

We are each separate entities, but we are born from the same thing, we are ALL a part of this universe, and in my opinion I think you are too lost soul, you are a part of this existance, and so is your spirit, just like the rest of us.

We are the stuff of the cosmos, stardust, we are a part of this universe as much as the barren rocks out in the void, or the burning pinpricks of life that are suns. In our existance we try to understand ourselves and this universe...
So perhaps, being we are a part of this universe, are we not the universes attempt to undestand itself?

you could interchange universe with god if you like, I think they are the same thing.

      Peace
