Question question - Talking to a friend who died

ok, so basically i'm going to do this to try to talk to my friend that died who i keep having dreams about.

the whole idea scares me a little, so i'm wondering if that will effect me in a bad way.

i dont know if i believe that it's really my friend that's visiting me, i don't think i'll ever know but i want to at least be able to enjoy the dream and be with her.

      thanks

I generally (read: always) disapprove of Necromancy ... and I still have my doubts as to weither it can be done in a dream ... so what I am going to ask you is if it is worth it.

This technicality isn't in the right area of the forum, but thats okay (being your first post and all), but consider: What if this isn't your friend?

      scrockstonic, welcome to Dream Views.

I've moved this topic to our "Beyond Dreaming" forum as I feel you may get more responses there.

I personally can't say if the "spirit" of your friend would visit you in a lucid dream, and as to whether or not this will effect you in a bad way, I have no way of knowing.

Some members believe that THEY create all the characters in their lucid dreams and, if this is the case, then the experience will be whatever you "anticipate" it to be.

Either way, I wish you sweet lucids.

      Hey, welcome to DV!

I know exactly how you feel. About a year ago, one of my friends committed suicide, and I had dreams about him for several months afterward.

Cherish the moments you spend talking with your friend. My deceased friend always has something interesting and inspiring to say in my lucids. Whether it's really him or not, I look forward to these rare meetings.

      Good luck!

I would say do it, although I have never been a believer that in shared dreaming or talking with the dead. At the very least, she should prove to be an interesting DC.

Yeah, it really shouldn't matter if it's really them or not. The experience itself can be quite emotional, Trust me. Especially if it's a lucid dream. I don't think it will affect you in a bad way unless you let it. I think it will be a good thing. You may find that You feel better after, and at least you can know that You can always visit with her in your dreams, and perhaps that will bring you to a place where You feel happy. With others it has a negative effect because it's hard to cope with seeing them again I Think. Good thoughts are important when thinking about doing this sort of thing. It could go either way. But I encourage you to Try it out and let us know what happens.

It has been said, that while APing you may encounter astral spirits who have died.

      Possibly in lucid dreaming?

I say go for it if you want to,
      but (theoretically speaking),
is it so important not to wait till you die? (not trying to be morbid)

Or or you trying to clarify at the same time whether it is possible?

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

      Virtual Reality Projection
Here is a simple, reliable method, I have developed, to create your own personal realm: Get a poster of a pleasant scene, something bright and sunny. The bigger the better, but standard poster size will do. Hang it on the wall of the room you are going to project in, or another room close by. Get a small spotlight and set it so the poster is highlighted when the main light is turned off, a normal directional bedside lamp will do. Place the light under, or above, so the light spreads out over it giving a diffused effect illuminating it, a bit like a movie screen.

Entering your custom realm: When you project, go towards the poster, keeping your mind blank. Don't think about what you are doing, just gaze at it and move towards it. As you approach it in this way, your subconscious mind will be tricked into creating an astral realm exactly like the poster. Just move up to and into the poster. It is like stepping into another world. Everything in this world will be exactly like in the poster. It will appear to be a normal three dimensional world, an exact copy, indistinguishable from reality.

To customise this world: Cut and paste small pictures of things, or people, you want to find in this world with you when you enter it. Don't just stick a whole picture on the poster. Get scissors and cut around the object, or person. Try and find pictures that are approximately the same scale as the poster. If you cut out a small picture of someone, living or dead, your subconscious will create a thought form shell of them and they will be there waiting for you. This may be an excellent way of communicating with those that have died.

Spirit Communication: (I have a theory) The subconscious creates this thought form shell of a person. This shell can be animated by the perfect, detailed memory of your subconscious. But, if there is love there, between the projector and this created person, the spirit of this, diceased person, will be drawn to this scenario and will use this opportunity to communicate with the projector, by animating the created image of their body.
      ----------------------------------------------------------------

APing into a picture.... just saw it and thought it was worth posting to inform you.

I could very well be... Though my personal experience is that you should not try to be lucid in those experiences... at least not to the point where you can interact and modify the environment in a way that could be detrimental (in a metaphorical/metaphysical sense). Just practice on remembering the dreams and the feelings they brought you.

In time, you should be able to connect to a “purer” version of your friend. Meanwhile, be passive in those, try not to screw with it. Or it could turn nasty (if the passing was unnoticed or forgotten by the hmm person/spirit/DC??)…

A few years ago, I encountered my dad a few times over a few months… in the end he had a new life and around the time he turned into a teen, he turned into a mean sob… I got pissed off at him for him being rude and arongant and basically being a mean f… I mean big meany (which he was not IRL, at least not in this distorted way). I yelled at him and told him he was dead and not to come in my dreams ever again. Then I had to jump repeatedly on the floor, face down to wake up. Sad but funny at the same time. And I was not even trying to connect with him. It just happened.

Another member mentioned having a dream were he met a guru who told he had entered the land of the dead. The guy told him he was dreaming and could do anything he wanted so that was cool. The guru touched his forehead with his index finger, grinning, and the guy was kicked out. I can’t remember the details but it was funny.

Me, I believe in dream you can achieve many things, even connect to the unreachable for a limited time. I rarely come on this site anymore… philosophical clash. I just can’t believe it’s all me in there, and by extension, all me in here
The ego is a dangerous thing to feed…

I have the problem that I can only talk to dead people who just died a few weeks ago.
      I call them fresh spirits.
Though I don't know most of them.
It is kind of freaky sometimes.
I remember that for me the first time was when I met a granny.
I get these kinds of dreams 3 times in 2 weeks. It just suddenly happened to me, but after a while it can be very tiresome and you will sleep badly, because of that you need to watch out when you are going to summon your friend in your dream.
