Shared Lucid Dreaming

Hi! I'm somewhat new to lucid dreams. I recently heard about something called "shared lucid dreaming" where you can actually be with someone else in a dream and you both know that you're lucid. I doubt anyone's actually done it, seeing as it's physically impossible and all. There are probably plenty of people who have had similar dreams as a friend or something, but no double-lucid type events.

I disagree. I have actually had a couple of shared dreams. One is with my mother, and another time in 4th grade everyone ate the same cake, went home and to sleep, and on the next day everyone had the same dream. Physically impossible, perhaps. Mentally Possible? I think so.

I didn't thnk it was actually possible PHISICALLY to share the same dream. But maybe mentally? I just decided to throw the idea out there. It is sort of weird when two people have the same dream though. One time my friend and I both had almost the exanct same dream. They wern't lucid dreams though, and it was a coincidence, but it was still cool! Heres what the website says about it: Once you get experience in the field of Lucid Dreaming, have good control over your dream environment and can stay Lucid for a long time is it time to move on. Or if you are an experienced Lucid Dreamer that wants to try something new, then Shared Lucid Dreaming is an interesting approach. Intent is an important key for Sharing a Dream. When you lie in bed trying to fall asleep you need to program this intent to Share Dreams with those you desire, and then when you are in the Dream, you have to recall that intent and attempt to fulfill it. Give yourself appropriate affirmations while you are waiting for the hypnagogic imagery to start. A good way of finding those you desire is imagine them and let the hypnagogic imagery fill out the rest of the details. Once you are in the Dream, make sure you are fully conscious. Check all your senses and do some logical tests. Recall your intent and try a few other techniques if your friend isn't in your dream. You can phase to that person, or imagine a door and talk out loud your desire to meet that person, then open the door. You can also shout and yell for them until they come along. Once you find them comes the big question. Are your friend Lucid? Ask a few simple questions, be friendly and patient. If you know their interest, create them. And try to make them understand that they are dreaming. Do things that normally don't happen in the physical world. When they understand or if they know that they are dreaming, make sure they are fully conscious and that all their senses are working. Once it is established that both of you are dreaming should you point out details in the dream, for later verification. You might also try to bring more people into the dream. When you wake up you should write down everything you could remember, especially the details that were pointed out. A phone call right after awakening may help on the recall.

How is it possible? Do you believe in telepathy? Dreams occur inside your head, how can two people's minds be linked like this? I've thought of a way in which this might happen, but not in the same way: Since some people talk in their sleep, and I know a couple of people who's dreams can be directly manipulated by talking to them (A friend of mine used to regularly torment one of his friends by telling him horrible things while he was asleep). If you get two people who talk about their dreams as they're dreaming and who also get influenced by what the other is saying their dreams may influence each others and they may dream some of the same things IF THEY ARE RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER.

Mentally Possible? I think so. My point is, you only realized that you had had the same dream after the fact. That means that, unlikely as it may be, it's still possible that all of you merely had a similar dream, perhaps caused by eating the same cake or something along those lines. The one with your mother, were you both lucid? As far as 'mentally possible' goes, are you suggesting that dreams exist independent of the physical mind??

Maybe your right, but I do think it's more than a coincidence.

I don't know...it seems really impossible. Maybe its something you can't explain. I guess however weird it is, its still probably some sort of coincidence. The only way to prove it would be if you could actially ask people questions and have them answer them and then see if they remember the questions and answers the next day. i know how to do it , it may sound quite easy . but here it is: everytime you are with a person you recognised him/her by a presence/feeling about him/her you feel. in the dream you must create a portal (like a stargate) and put the presence in it, then you enter it!!!!! Gothlark teached me that , he says it works very well, although i have not tried it. (if the other guy is not lucid you can tell him that he is in a dream, and he realises)

Thanks for all the imput...sorry I didn't notice that someone had already posted a similar thread, I had mine on the wrong board! So, let me get this straight. What you are saying makes it sound like when you dream you leave your body? Is that true? I mean, for shared dreaming to be real it would have to be wouldn't it? Like I said before, I'm not sure.

Just so you know... Shared dreaming is real. To say the laws of physics mandates that it cannot happen is a flawed thought. Any physicist knows that not all the laws are discovered/unified and more importantly not all the phenomena that have been witnessed can be explained and not all the cavaets of physical phenomena have been explored in our current set of "natural" laws. (I'm thinking shared dreaming may be wrapped up in entanglement somewhere... not sure) On the other point... I wouldn't think of it as leaving your body. Rather, I think the mind/soul may behave more like an antenna - both receiving and sending signals. It's the connection (sending and receiving) that makes a shared dream possible. I believe that was what viking was talking about concerning the portal.
