      Wierd Astral Experience

I've been beginning to work on Astral Projection again, and last night I had something rather interesting happen. I was laying there, listening to the music I do when I try to AP, when my ENTIRE body jerked. It was like my body had a muscle spasm. What do you all think that was??? One other thing that ALWAYS happens... I always get an itch somewhere on my body whenever I get 'close' to leaving my body. Any ideas on how to stop the itching, or what it might be a signal of? Perhaps my body not wanting me to leave, or even my subconscious expressing fear?

Spasms-those are the hypnic jerks. I don't try to AP (don't believe it), but I've had the jerks when trying to WILD. As for the itches, I don't know.

I experience spasms like that as well both when I try to OBE or even when I'm just trying to fall asleep. Although I've never experienced it in my entire body at once like that, I do believe it's quite normal.

As for the itching, that happens to me too. Another thing is that right when I feel like I'm about to make it, I have to swallow. So frustrating eh? I've got no explanation for that one, mate it just sucks don't it?

Speaking of pesky distractions that screw everything up...

That reminds me of the furthest I ever got while trying "out of body" travel. I was all the way with what I was trying to do. I was in a very vivid scene. I was surrounded by a beautiful landscape, and it was incredible being there while knowing exactly what was going on. It was every bit as vivid as waking life, but a little bit more like a painting. It was clearer than my lucid dreaming experiences. One of the things about my lucid dreams is that I am never really sure what is going on. I know that I am dreaming, but I always have confusion about exactly what that means, and I am never able to describe what my waking life is like. I always lose track of it and even have delusions about it. But with this "out of body experience", I was completely in touch with what my waking life was like and with the fact that my body was in my living room in my old apartment in Jackson and so forth. But as cool as it was, I only got a few seconds into it. After about maybe five seconds, a very loud freight train horn snapped me right out of it. I couldn't regain the state after that. I haven't been able to pull it off like that since then, but if I were more dedicated I probably would have.

Something crazy about that is that right before I did had the experience, I had gone to the store. On the way there and back, I was listening to Coast to Coast A.M. (Art Bell, George Norey). Some guest was on there talking about how there is a principle in nature that often stops progress from happening too fast. He said that it is very common for people to come very close to breakthroughs in their own lives and for the world and be stopped by things because either they or the world are not ready for such progress. I got home after listening to that and started the out of body attempt within minutes. It is really crazy that the bizarre phenomenon the guy was talking about seemed to show up in my life a few minutes later. And that is not the first time I have listened to that radio show and the topic greatly resembled strange things that happened in my life within 24 hours.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

That's highly interesting! I will take that to heart. Funny timing you had posting this, because tonight I have been pondering my dryspell of LDs, wondering why things keep interrupting my attempts. Hah. That's insane....

It looked like a big farm with a steep hill/cliff and a beautiful brick house right by me. There was a farmer looking guy in a straw hat near me, but he didn't seem to pay any attention to me. An air of serenity and beauty seemed to be part of the atmosphere. It was day time, apparently late in the afternoon. But at my apartment, it was about 1:00 a.m.

i dont get why people dont believe in astral projection because the sensation of being out of your body can be true, maybe not the beliefs surrounding it but still.

I think that you could have the feeling and all, but it is all just a LD (a really cool one). But the thing about APing and then traveling to distant places without your body... I have problems believing.

Hmmm. Stopping progress occurring too fast, eh? Interesting... It almost is like there something trying to stop me from achieve an OBE. My CD player (Like I said, I use music.) broke THE NIGHT after I make real progress. As for itching... I think with enough focus, you can just ignore them and they go away, that's what I'm working on now. Just think of them as itches in your crotch and imagine yourself in a public area, lol. I'm just wondering... Do you think I was opening my eyes? I don't think I was... Because they were jolting around like I was in REM Sleep or something, and it FELT like my eyes were closed... I'll have to use a little blanket or something to cover them so I'll know for sure ^_^.

I remember once when I was meditating to the Immrama Institutes "Insight CD", I keep seeing white go from one corner of my eye to another. It was pretty cool.
