Can any paranormal detectives out there figure this one?

This one has bugged me for years...

First thing to say is that I have great dream recall. Second thing is that between my bedroom and that of my parents (the only other people in the house) there were two closed doors and a very creaky landing. Third thing is that my parents are not practical jokers. Fourth thing is that I am generally of sound mind and had never taken any mind altering drugs. Fifth thing is we had two dogs, and three geese who made lots of noise if there were any strangers about.

One night, when I was about 16, I was dreaming merrily away that I was having dinner with some friends, chatting about the mundane things in life. In fact, upon reflection all the dreams leading upto that point had been calm and peaceful ones with no violence, anxiety or frustration. All of a sudden I was woken by a loud thud. I lived on a farm at the time and there were often strange noises at night - animals or whatever. I sat up to listen... nothing seemed amiss, so put my head back down to go to sleep again, but my pillow was not there. 'Fine' I thought, 'It must have fallen off the bed', so I reached down to get it... nothing there... I reached out further... still couldnt find it. At this point I suddenly got very nervous and snatched my hand back; trying to figure it out, I could only conclude that someone or something must have moved it! I turned on the light and scanned about... still couldnt see it. Getting more nervous now I did a quick check under the bed almost expecting to see someone there with my pillow... nothing. I stood up, heart pounding and there it was, lying neatly and squarely on the floor about 10ft beyond the end of my bed! I looked at it suspiciously for a while, checked out the room, even looked for hidden wires... one normal pillow. Eventually made it back to sleep with my cricket bat beside me.

      Any ideas? Any similar experiences?

maybe it was a very vivid dream. or maybe you THREW IT in your sleep.

Those are the two most likely explanations - I'll have to admit. But I know it wasnt a dream - if it was I brought back a cricket bat which is even weirder! If I had thrown it I would have dreamed of throwing something, or doing something violent (it was a heavy feather pillow and was at least 16 feet from the head of the bed). The thud that woke me was just the kind of sound a pillow would make if thrown, but I had been dreaming of sitting peacefully at the dinner table chatting with friends...

Have you ever sleepwalked? If you throw out the other 2 thoughts, my best guess is sleepwalking and maybe you were moving something in you dream.

My other suggestion is that the elusive pillow knomes(sp?) got you while you were asleep, and when about 3-4 of them were pulling your pillow across the room, one of them fell down and made the thud. Seeing you awaken, they quickly scatter before you turn on your light. It's the perfect plan. I've made a sketch of what the knomes look like.

Choose the one you feel is more practical (the second one of course).

No it's not, I saw a colony of them in my walls . If someone can catch one of them alive, I'll give you a reward .

Kill the British humor. You're going to kill everybody D

You threw the pillow in your sleep - not necessary to dream that. That was the loud thump you heard. Dream amplified it. You woke up. The end..

I like my theory better. It's more interesting .

But if you sleepwalk, I really think that's probably the thing.

      PILLOW GNOMES!!!!!!

As a child (8-10) I had similar experiences with crayons. When I would color a picture at the table I would use say the "green" crayon. Now I knew I was going to need the green crayon again soon, so I set it right next to my arm. Upon finishing with say the "red" crayon, I'd set it down and go to pick up the green one. It was nowhere to be found. Not on the table, not on the floor under the table. I used to get so frustrated and upset. I felt like someone was playing a trick on me. About an hour after I'd give up coloring, the missing crayon would turn up in a strange place I hadn't even been with the crayons. This happened several times to me.

I also recall hearing footsteps alot in this same house, and I would be all alone at home. It was a very old home and we lived there until I was thirteen. After moving I never experienced the "missing crayon" or the "bodyless footsteps" again.

      May have been the house.

      May have been gnomes.....

Could be dead ppl ie: ghosts of dead ppl sometimes they get mixed up in our frequencies often are able to physically come in contact with things, like often youll go into the kitchen of an older house in the mornings and all the cuboards are wide open and things are outta place.

One of the houses I work at quite often in the side vision or periphery I think its called you get glimpses of movment and darting of objects. In general just a sence that things are different.

Isn't it a bit odd to leave your 8-10 year old daughter at home on her own? :|

Just alittle odd huh? I also watched my six year old brother at the time. Some parents do odd things. Some parents act more like siblings than parents. I'm just glad that I have enough sense not to do that to my own children.

But anyway, back to the topic........
