      Dream connection with my cat?!?

A while back my husband and I took a 3 day trip. When we leave the cat stays in the house and basically sleeps eats and poops and gives us the hairy eyeball when we get home.

On this trip on the 3rd night I and my hubby both had a dream about cats. Mine was that there was a cat was trying to get outside. She was trying to push the door open and fiddling with the door knob. I was worried that she was going to get hurt and frightened for her. My husbands' was that there were a bunch of small cats trapped in a barn and they needed food and he was trying to figure out how to get food to them. When we woke up and shared our dreams as we always do we were surprised that we both dreamed of cats and tried to figure out what would be the trigger. Did we see a show on television or something?

When we got home on the 4th day, we discovered that the cat had accidently locked her self in our master bedroom and had been without food for over 3 days. She had water and a litter box in the bathroom (thank God). She must have been frantic to get out of the room and starving.

Do you think we were reading her 'vibes' in our sleep in a hotel room over 300 miles away?

We often have dreams that are similar with similar themes. Once we both had cars featured in our dream. Not that big of a deal but they both were black with red interiors. Not a combination that either of us would ever have. Who knows?

Yes, pretty much. I'm a cat person. I can always tell when she wants inside. She doesn't ever meow. Just stands at the door. I tell my husband, "The cat wants in." or "Let the cat in please." and when he goes to the door....there she is. Same thing for wanting out, even when she is in another room than I am. I get up and go to the back room and she's waiting by the door. I'm the official door opener and closer at the house. :-)

Either I have a connection or she just always hangs out at the door 24/7. LOL.

I've also got her trained that at 5:30 when I come home from work, she will get a little treat (canned food) so I can make her stay inside for the night. Every day at 5:30 even on weekends, the treat is expected and she is there staring at her special treat bowl. "Hey...where's my stuff?". How she figures out the time I'll never know.

Yeah animals have a pretty good sense of time. This includes humans, but we don't usually have the opportunity to exercise this ability because we've learned to become so dependent on clocks!

That is really cool though, about that dream. That's a phenomena I couldn't begin to explain, but I know it happens!

I don't know if I would call that "dream sharing." I choose to just call it "phenomena," more along the lines of a psychic thing. Dream sharing to me is like two people having the same dream. I haven't experienced that myself. I've only heard stories. I won't believe it until it happens to me, quite frankly, because I try not to take personal anecdotes as hard evidence.

That's for sure...I went through a period where I didn't have phone (alarm), and every morning I'd wake up at exactly 6:15. I'd also be a pretty good judge throughout the day.

Sorry jamous but I think you should get outta this thread!

No seriously dude, you're getting really emotional about this stuff. If you think the OP is lying about her experience, take it up with her, not me.

actually now that I re-read my posts I can see where you might sense some attitude in what I was saying. But really I was just being inquisitive, and when I said "jesus, what the thread is about!" it might have seemed a little more abrasive than I intended it (that's the internet for you) so I'm sorry. I was just a little annoyed that you wanted me to define something that I couldn't. And, no, I don't think the op was lying, she might be, hell if I know, I just wanted to hear your thoughts on dream sharing because you said, "That's a phenomena I couldn't begin to explain, but I know it happens!"

How about this: how do you know it happens?
sorry for the confusion, fellow dreamviewer!

Ahh thanks jamous, I see now, no worries!

Well as I explained before, I don't think what the OP is saying fits into the "dream sharing" category. And as I've said before, I won't personally believe in dream sharing unless I either experience it or it's studied scientifically.

I call what the OP had just a general "phenomena." It could be just a coincidence, but even so, it's a really cool coincidence. I've had dreams about people that have come true. Maybe that's something legitimate, or maybe it's just a coincidence, I don't know, but it happens none the less, and it's cool!

You should know that I'm a very scientific person in the sense that I'm not impressed by anecdotes... only evidence. But I think what the OP experienced was worth sharing.

Agreed, I know exactly what you mean. But for me it's like... if I read some really convincing stuff on here, I might be more inclined to investigate "IRL."

And on dream prediction or whatever, like you I have also had dreams about things that then happens in real life. It's very strange sometimes. Like, often I get this thing where an image or a scene from a dream will linger in the back of my mind, and then I'll see the image or witness a very similar scene the next day. And often when that happens, other little synchronicities will occur. It's as if synchronities or coincidences occur in little bunches or clusters... it's very weird, but oddly compelling.

Well, I believe the question here should be: How far does the cat's telepathic ability extend to?

As most know, animals have heightened senses, and people learn to understand their cats without them speaking. I do suspect (assuming that you already believe the paranormal) that the person's telepathic ability may not reach so far, but the cat's might.

Or if you do not buy the whole paranormal thing, you could attribute this whole experience to merely a hunch...

But that is for you guys to decide,

And as I've said before, I won't personally believe in dream sharing unless I either experience it or it's studied scientifically.

The main thing I thought was strange about the dreaming, was that my husband and I BOTH had dreams about cats the same night with similar themes. They weren't the exact same dream but similar enough in the general feeling of trapped cat, help let me out that it was weird. I dunno if the cat was sending me messages, I doubt it but the coincidence of her actually being trapped in the bedroom and our dream was just strange.

My husband and I occasionally have similar dreams for no apparent reason that we can figure out. Even when we sleep in different rooms. Not sharing a dream, but so close that it's too weird.

When the cat wants in, how do I know? I don't know. I just do. Like a thought that pops into my head. "Cat wants in."

Cats (and dogs too) just like me and come to me and are friendly. Once when we were in Hawaii, we were laying on a beach near a residential area. Out of all the people on the beach, this white cat came up and layed down with us on our blanket and let us pet it. It hung out with us for about an hour or so until we decided to leave and go back to our hotel. It followed me/us to the car. "Sorry cat. You can't come home with us." And NO...lol... we didn't have any food to feed it, so iI don't think that wasn't why it hung out with us. Every cat I've ever had was a volunteer. Just showed up.
