Kids see dead people?

OK I've heard some where that little kids can see spirits but don't remember it. I remember from when i was little seeing spirits and wierd shit. One time i had a nightmare and went into my parents room because i was scared. So i went to sleep and when i woke up i saw a dark figure walk across the living room and no i wasn't under SP because i could move. Another time i got up to go to the bathroom when i was in the hallway a bright white spirit got up in my face. I was so terrified i was frozen i then got some cense and ran into the bathroom. Sense then even though i don't see wierd shit i still have a feer of walking through that hallway. There has been other shit happened but i don't remember those events to vividly. So what do you guys think?

At that age i always new when it was a nightmare. But there is no solid proof of anything so maybe i was maybe i wasn't.

Could it have been hypnagogic visuals? I find myself seeing hypnagogic stuff when waking up while I'm not in sleep paralysis. It fades out when I move anything though.

Perhaps
