ok, I just finished the article and its Awesome!! if you don't care too much about the info (although it would be great to read it) skip to 'part 3' it has some great advice on how to achieve an astral projection...

I highly recommend you guys reading this...

I really enjoyed that. It was very interesting.

I'm particularly interested in chakras and opening them.

I don't plan on ever attempting AP though, it seems too scary for me.

I could probably use some of those techniques for LD though.

And yeah those tips can easily be used in LD...

I learned a lot from this article, it made me even more interested in the whole subject... I never really realised how important chakras are and in my opinion, the more balanced Chakras are, the easier in can be to either LD or AP... its pretty cool

I thought it was really interesting what the writer of the article said about death.

The Author Robert Bruce have made one of the most comprehensive books about OBE's called: "Astral Dynamics". So if you thought the article was indepth, then read the book, it's great.

But I admit that the article is also very, very good.

Thanks for posting that article, Jessie1203! I have tried the rope technique twice now and almost got out both times... I know I can over come this by strengthening my focus - when I start to get the dizzies and feel myself leaving my body, it's really hard not to get excited and accidentally pull myself back into my body, lol!

I have also had some issues that I believe are caused by my throat chakra being less open than my others - I'll have my imaginary hands and arms climbing the rope, I'll feel the dizzies in my head and the darkness behind my eyeballs will start to look bigger... and then I get this weird lump in my throat and breathing becomes very difficult. It is rather difficult to remain focused when you are unable to breathe!

Does anyone have any suggestions or exercises aimed at opening and clearing the throat chakra? I have been doing my usual energy work (opening my chakras, collecting energy from my skin, and focusing it into the chakra) and have found that for some reason it is more difficult for me to focus my consciousness into my throat than any other chakra. Interestingly, I have also always had issues with my throat being touched - I start to feel like I'm choking before there is even skin contact (which I feel is a symptom, not a cause).

Any input is welcome! Thank you!

Hey well... When you are reaching or... when you reach, sleep paralysis, your breathing becomes very shallow... I feel like that when I'm veeeery relaxed too... but I doubt it has anything to do with the chakra.. (its still a very good Idea to stimulate the chakras anyways) but, just try not to focus on it... I know it sounds a bit hard to do, since, well.. its breathing, if you feel like choking its hard to ignore... but try to ignore it anyways... just focus on something else in those moments, keep focusing on the rope instead of how shallow your breathing is...

And yeah!! I know what you mean about getting excited!! geez!! it used to happen to me all the time, but don't worry, with practice, you’ll learn to ignore your emotions... you'll get to a point where you just don't "care" and it'll be easier for you to that point...

Another thing that helped me get out last time I achieved AP was, to not think of myself as a physical being, but as like a ball of energy or something like that... Like I am energy (not a body) and just focus my attention Away from the body... Next thing I knew I was floating around my room!! ...

In your case what I would do -you know since you're doing the rope thing-, when you're doing that visualization and you’re climbing the rope, when you get these sort of vibrations, don't think of yourself with hands anymore, don't think of your body at all!, focus your attention away from the body, feel that there is no gravity and you're just floating away... like this shapeless energy, leaving the physical... Because when we think about our body even if its a little bit; like our hands or any part of the body, our mind will keep us attached to the physical body which is the one body It knows... I hope I'm not being too confusing Our mind relates to things, so if we tell our mind we are leaving our physical body in our astral body... The mind won't understand, because the mind only knows ONE body, and one only... so two bodies detaching from one another?? its not possible for the mind... so that's my theory we can't think of ourselves as bodies in that exact moment we are trying to detach... after we detach its fine... it won't matter... what I'm saying is, the mind won't accept 2 separate bodies at the same time..

Hope this helps a bit!! I suck at explaining things... But I'm sure this works... It worked for me... For some people, they can actually see their astral arm going out of the physical... but for some of us, the mind has more power over us, so this won't work, for the reason I explained above...

So if you guys get to that point where you get the vibrations... you feel very deep, like you're RIGHT THERE in that point where you can detach, but you cant'!, then maybe give my lil' theory a try it won't hurt.... and it might work! it worked for me Anyways

And you don't suck at explaining things, I thought you did quite well! Isn't it funny how difficult it can be to find the words to discuss such concepts? It's like we're expanding our boundaries of experience faster than we can expand our vocabulary to discuss them!

Its just sometimes our minds like to butt in too much!, so it makes it a bit harder (that's my case, and I know its many other peoples case too) So what we need to do is just, instead of forcing the mind to do something, explain the mind how things work and get to an understanding for so to speak..

I kept forcing my mind to think what I wanted and I could not get results...

Just a month ago I started just trying to like, talking myself into things and undestanding HOW my mind works, HOW my mind sees things and truth be told, I've been getting some great results!... Now every time my mind tries to fight something I'm telling it to do... I sort of explain why I'm doing it and why its a good thing... if there's doubt, I analize it and deal with the doubt and remember (from things that I've read) Why there Shouldn't be doubts....

I know it sounds a bit weird but.. come on... We all talk to ourselves... Its just a form of thinking.... Its not like there's another voice in my head!! or anything like that!! is just my mind used to be kinda stubborn.. distracted... and I've found that doing this actually helped me get it under control a bit

In a forum dedicated to traveling without our bodies, consciously controlling our dreams, meeting other real people in the dream world, and generally exploring the non-physical, non-mainstream aspects of our reality, I really don't think that you need to worry about talking to yourself sounding weird!! LOL!!

Jokiness aside (but always within reach), I definitely get what you are saying there. Our boundaries are created by our beliefs - which are held by our more-tricky-to-access subconscious, and a lot of the time we don't even know that we have that belief!!

I recently finished reading the book "Spontaneous Evolution" (and I almost feel like I'm going on and on and on about this book, and plugging it every chance I get, but it really is that awesome) and one of the key points that absolutely fascinated me was about the structuring of unconscious beliefs in childhood. To summarize: until about the age of six our brains exhibit mostly Alpha and Theta waves - data is not analyzed, only recorded. Essentially, what this means is that until our brains grow to the point of displaying Beta waves associated with analysis, we record everything into our subconscious, no matter how incorrect or self-defeating it may be. A brain works by making connections, so everything you learn from that point is literally built on on whatever connections you've formed from everything you've absorbed - beneficial or not (reason #847 my children will be brought up without television).

Sooooo to get around to my point... it makes sense that we might try to resist doing something we might unconsciously consider "impossible" or "ridiculous" (or gods forbid "insane"), and it totally makes sense to alleviate this by explaining to yourself the intention and reasoning behind what you are doing - the same way you might alleviate a child's fears of doing something new.

Well, That book sounds very very interesting... I think I'll read it... yeah I totally undestand your point... that's exactly what I've realized about lately... I've found out things about my self that I had NO IDEA were even in me...
