Difference between Lucid Dreams & OOBEs

Hi all! * Have you ever wondered how you can tell if you're having an OOBE versus a lucid dream? I can tell when I'm lucid vs OOB in that when I have a lucid dream the experience always STARTS somewhere OTHER than where I am sleeping (somewhere other than my bedroom or couch) yet when I have an OOBE, the experience ALWAYS starts where I'm sleeping (i.e., I roll or lift off the couch or bed).. The other way I can tell is that I always have partial if not TOTAL control of the actions of the *other* people in my lucid dreams while in my OOBEs, the ONLY person I have TOTAL control over is *myself*. Does anyone else find these things to be true? Clairity

Does anyone else find these things to be true? There must be a serious discrepency on how lucid dreams and an OBE are intepreted. A lucid dream to me, no matter where it starts, is being in a conscious state during a dream. I have control of myself and it is possible to have control of your dream characters. Now OBE's could quite possibly be some form of a dream or an interpretation of such. Just going from my limited two expiriences with OBE's, there is a seperation from the physical body and you conscious. Some say Mind - Pyche - Soul - brain. OBE's, at least I think involve or can involve astral projection , distant viewing and the like. Where Lucid dreaming, again to what i have expireinced, is merely becoming aware of your consciousness while dreaming - which includes also you subconscious. So basically I don't know

Would it be possible to simply have a dream about an OBE? Is there any way to test to find out if what you are seeing is the real world or simply an elaborate dream that seems like an OBE?

No I don't think so. I just did a search and found it. That's shot Grable, the first ever nuclear device fired from an artillery piece or howetzer, rather. I think it was a 15 kiloton yield.

Thank you for your replies! It does get murky as I often become aware that I'm "dreaming" and then, instead of going off into a lucid dreamscape.. I'll decide to roll out of my body. BTW.. the rooms do look exactly as they do in waking life. Is there a definate test to determine if you're seeing the real world.. I don't know... I have also been in a lucid dream that I "changed" into an OOBE by laying down, closing my astral eyes, waiting for the vibrations and then lifting myself out. I am also quite sure that you can have a lucid dream about being OOB. Clear as mud..huh? Clairity

It's an intresting question. I don't think there's any definite way to test, other than the "what's on this paper" thing. Although apparently reading in the astral realm or whatever isn't easy, or sometimes possible, so that might not work.

Obe's are yet to be proven..this makes it very hard to get across to others that they even exist.. In my exsplorations with Ld's and Obe's, there is many differances, first my awaress in ld's seems to focus only on my subconscious mind...dream world,and my obe's are more defined by a state of clear conscioius thinking, my awareness is obe's is more objective, and I am aware of my body and can feel it breathing, a few times I have just layed in my body while being detached from it, though I could get up and rome around, I decided to stay in my body and observe the surroundings..and also asking questions in this state"who is God" "what is this state"? and found that sometimes that when I focused on these questions, my awareness began to shift through layers of consciousness, bringing me to other realms, or what every you would like to call them, most obe's are subjective, because our focus in not fully there, and our subconcious gets in the way too many times, so it is very easy to have a DOM dream/obe mixed..but after learning focus and intent, I can now clarify between the two states , and even now I still have dom's...so its something that has yet to be overcome. here is a wonderful peice of obe/dream information http://lilacsky.proboards39.com/index.cgi?...&num=1111238009

ive had lots of obes and just a couple of lucid dreams, for me a lucid dream was just like an obe but not as real, it was almost the same, but not quite...different enough to tell the difference.

sorry about posting again but i just read some more posts, ive read in dreams and obes many times, sometimes the writing is easy to read, sometimes i read it and it morphs into another word. sometimes it is blurry, but i have read perfectly fine lots of times, sometimes i even start reading a book in obe, like a whole page from a book ive never even read/seen before........ and proving that obe is real, i dont know if this is proof for you but while asleep i caught a glimpse of my head, from behind myself about 6 feet, in this little obe i saw myself with my arm up looking at my watch and the time said 7:29 .... i woke up just then and remembered what i just saw, raised up my arm just as i saw in the obe, and the time was 7:29 .... so i guess i saw the future in this little obe, btw this was my first obe i ever had and got me very interested in having more, it took about a year later before i started having lots more obes, and the watch thing happened about 4 more times, so for me that is what proved they were real
