      Meditation Journal

I really liked what BigFan (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=97305) had done with making a meditation journal. Ive been meaning to get into it ever since my bff guru Allensig3654 has been raving about it.
My main goal in this for right now would have to be making the 25 min and also clearing my thoughts. Every nite lucidity is hard for me and it doesnt help having a thousand things in my head. I hope this helps with that first off. I also hopes that meditating will help my dream recall.
I have a couple questions though? What mantra should I be saying, if one at all? And is being stoned detrimental to meditating? Has anyone been able to harness the power of the high for this purpose?

Thanks, too bad I wasn't able to continue it right through the full month From my experience, I wasn't using any mantra, I would try concentrating on the breathing or just imagine a dot and concentrate on that. Basically, something that will take your mind of anything else. I don't think being stoned would help. As for the harness part, I didn't, but, I did feel that I was getting into it much faster than when I started my day 1. Personally, might get back into it, but, need more time Good luck

Ive personally meditated w/ and w/out cannabis. And I must say it is obviously much easier to get in the trance stoned, but you must keep your thoughts from running away from you as they do when youre high.
Being high definitely makes you extremely focused on one thing for a while but can easily jump ship to the next if not controlling. Plus you need to learn how to get in the clear state of mind without it, being high can just be an added bonus to go further sometimes but you dont want to be dependent on it. Remember its the addiction that goes along with anything thats the problem, never the actual action or substance.
I already see your confusion building as to what needs to be done to achieve proper meditation. There is no way, there is no step that is the same for everyone. Everyones paths are different in life, what makes you think their meditation techniques would be the same? Whatever works for you, use it. If having nothing around you and no music, no chanting, no anything works, go ahead. I personally just playing some higher vibration meditation soundtracks while sitting or laying next to the bass of my stereo system. I sometimes cover my eyes as to not look around, sometimes dont. I sometimes chant certain old ways (Edgar Cayce use to chant along the lines of something "Aaaa Eeee Ouuu") but in reality its just any chant that make a nice clean vibration throughout. The point is not the words but more so the vibration you feel throught, thats what youre trying to focus in on.
Deep breaths, relax, clear your mind, and youll eventually find whatever way is best for you.

Smoking cannabis has definantly helped me medite. I get much faster into trance, relax easier and can to some extent move and circulate energy around in my body. Not getting caught up/letting thoughts fly is a matter of practice or power of will.

Weed + this song made me enter a really deep form of trance while I was relatively new to meditation.

When you have a disease and really can't meditate efficiently without it because you can't relax your body enough to hold a posture, then sure, it's cheating Regardless of that anyway: it's a natural, harmless plant that brings you in a meditative state. How can you define it as 'cheating' at all? I think you have a wrong perception of the plant and what being high really is.

I don't assume our body has dedicated cannabinoid-receptors just for fun.

      Tool ≠ cheat.

I think the real question is how much benefit you can get out of meditation in an altered state. If you need pot in order to meditate, then you're using it as a crutch, not a tool. You want the benefits of meditation to carry over into the rest of your life; you want to be able to center yourself at any given point during the day.

      Whatever works for you.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

I couldnt agree with you more, it was more just a "i like weed" and "i like to meditate" and trying those together.

      Day one Meditation

      Day one of meditating;
So I was super thrilled with the amount of depth I went on my first day. I set my alarm clock for 25 min. and was suprised when it went off. I felt my body go numb or maybe it was just my astral body leaving or something. Anyway I loved it and hope I have just as much success next time. I focused on my breathing just like BigFan and was amazed at what NOT THINKING can do! I did see visualizations, is this normal? and when does it cross over to being repetitive unwanted thoughts/visualizations (sounds easier then looks)

It's pretty interesting to be focusing on your breathing and should get easier as the days progress. I can't recall if I saw some visualizations, will have to check my journal for that. The idea is to just clear the mind of all thoughts using whatever method works for you. In my meditation, I was sitting in the lotus position since I would fall asleep if I was lying down but it sounds like you did well Did you try this when you were tired, because, the visualization could be the start of some low level HI. Essentially, meditation is supposed to help you lower your brainwaves and those who are experienced can even go into the dream brainwaves, I think it's delta in this case

To say Drugs is "cheating" is just letting your ego judge a situation, probably with no first hand experience on the matter anyway. And to say that someone is doing it wrong cause its not the way you do it is even more absurd. If theres one thing I can say for sure is that no two paths are the same. I've personally seen reincarnated 'Shamans' from old tribes that need 'Peace-pipes' to get into that trance just because they have done it for years in their past lives.
I personally can do both, but I certainly do not judge.
Drugs certainly do open our mind to see past everything we've been programmed to believe in. It is all about how you use a substance that matters, as I've said before, its the addiction thats the problem, not the drug or alcohol or video games or sodas or food or sex or anything. Now iam not saying to go do some dirty man made drug like crack unless you really feel like being artificially addicted which is harder to control then any natural grown substance like Mushrooms or Marijuana or many other things.
Personally everytime Ive done Magic Mushrooms I've learned a little more about myself and this 'reality'.
I wanna try Peyote like them Indians do and go on a Spirit walk

      I agree with Cloudy,
for me as well the Shrooms opened a door to me and to our world. The same with MJ. I only found that is the matter of dosage and how you actually use the drug. For me low dosages are the best. Then i found out that its a bit like in the dream. When you remember and think about a dream in wake state then you use that parts of the brain which were active during sleep(at least thats how i get it). When i smoke low dosages of MJ i can then recall what was i doing and speaking about when i was on MJ. A lot of people have fun with MJ and they remember nothing after that. But one can learn so to speak about his brain with low dosages. Same was with Shrooms. With low dosage im fully aware whats happening to me and i observe and listen carefully to me and to the world. In a way the low dosage can help one remember one's dreams and vice versa. I dunno if made myself clear.
One should opened and be careful. thats all.
For me Mescaline is on the list to try as well. But no idea when. And one need appropriate environment for that and proper spirit without health or mental burdens. Life will show
