    1. Lucid and Regular Dreams - Morning of Dec 27

      by , 12-29-2017 at 11:26 PM
The following lucid dreams were not extremely vivid, but were numerous (for me) and groundbreaking nonetheless. Although I forgot to do any stabilization techniques or RCs, I remembered to yell "More Lucidity Now!" and ask several DCs if they were my dream guide! All in all, it was an eventful night.

In the beginning of the night I had a few nonlucids, which I have little memory of. The first I can remember was in a humongous supermarket -- I'm starting to add skewed, elongated, or infinite spaces as one of my dream signs -- I was with a girl and possibly others down a long aisle that reminded me of the pet food/accessories aisle in Walmart irl. I wrote down in my DJ that I asked the girl something about dream characters, but I can't remember anything more specific.

Note: That night I went to sleep on my parent's couch, tired after a long day, tried a glass of apple juice as an oneirogen for the first time, and took .75mg of melatonin.

The first lucid dream I had started in a dark room. I could see two silhouettes in the lighted doorway -- a woman and a man. At first they were completely dim, but soon their silhouettes had horizontal rainbow stripes projected on them. I asked them repeatedly if they were my dream guide, and after that they left. I freed myself from standing still and walked through the doorway. It was an office-like room with a circular table in the middle. The lighting wasn't bright, but wasn't all the way dim -- the best way I can describe it was a blue overcast. On the central table and possibly throughout the office were full-sized Christmas trees (not the ones you put on tables as decorations). There were 20-30 people (workers?) sitting around the central table and at other desks along the walls which had large '50s era computers and control desks from a disaster movie lining them. There was an older lady who either had white hair or was bald. I got the feeling she was mean. I asked her if she was my dream guide and she responded with a scowl (I don't remember her saying anything -- possibly she mouthed something and didn't verbalize it?). I screamed "More Lucidity Now!". I don't remember the dream getting noticebly more vivid, but the old woman looked physically hurt after I said it. I screamed it again, and each time I screamed it, she got angrier and her face started running with blood from her scalp. Despite this, she seemed alright and she wasn't directly confrontational with me (she either walked off or faded out -- I can't remember). I believe this dream came from watching The Santa Clause (1 & 2) with my family.

The next dream, I was in a large, dimly lit brick room (not red brick, this was more like the beige brick of an old Italian house) with an open window. I maneuvered out of it and sat on the ledge, then reached above where I knew there would be a broom (I hadn't planned this or thought it out -- this sort of makes me think that the beginning of this could have been a dream *about* having a lucid dream rather than a lucid dream, but when I awoke I was convinced it was lucid the whole time!). Looking out, I could see many of these blocky buildings expanding out horizontally. In front of me it seemed like these buildings were actually raised high up because there was a sort of drop off point with a ~100ft radius. I grabbed the broom and flew down off the windowsill. It felt amazing! I remember trying to figure out the rules for flying as I was flying, and the actual mechanics changing dynamically -- I could feel my conscious mind working it out -- does the right hand stabilize while the left pulls up? Which hand goes over the other? As I continued to fly I saw below me several stormtroopers infighting and the red lasers of blasters.

Next I had several chained False Awakenings. During each of these, I would wake up and reach out for the chair that was pulled up to the couch irl, and grab the number 2 pencil and 8.5x11 sheet of paper (not there irl). Each time I did this I would write down my previous dreams. The first time, my grandpa stopped by and complained about something (it was still dark out). In the next FA, I wrote down this dream below the spot where (in the last FA) I had written down my previous dreams. But there was nothing written there! This triggered lucidity immediatelyI got up and walked into my parents' bedroom and put my hand over my mom's face (who looked somewhat like the old woman from my Christmas dream). After this, I talked to her about something (perhaps asked if she was my dream guide -- unsure).

In another FA, I got up, walked over to a picture frame that used to be near the kitchen in my childhood, and pressed my face against it. It was a reflective black and I could see other people's faces in it (in white). I tried with some success to summon specific faces, but the final one I was trying trying kept eluding me.

On the whole, these FA-sparked dreams in my house gave me quite a spooky vibe.

After this, there was a semi-lucid fragment where I was walking up a small, cramped staircase, but either my focus was waning and the visuals were dying, or, as part of the dream, there was a large black/white spot covering a portion of my vision like an eclipse.

I wrote in my DJ that I had several other fragments, some of which I felt were lucid, but I can't remember them now. I feel as though I might have returned to the supermarket from the beginning of the night and been lucid then, but I can't remember.

Note: there were points where, during the dreams, I wouldn't necessarily RC or spot a dream sign and then realize I was dreaming -- rather it was like I was lucid the whole time and I simply willed myself into a participatory role. This was an interesting feeling.

Because I'm unsure about the validity of some of these dreams, I'm going to mark the lucid count for this night as 4, which is amazing for me! I'm still excited about this two days later. Happy dreaming!
    2. Various LD snippets during Thanksgiving break (Mornings of Nov 23 - Nov 27) Part 1

Unsure what happened before becoming lucid. My field of vision is flat like a computer screen, alternatively flashing between blue and red flashing (like a computer screen) - there is a thin white rectangular border. Centered white or black text reads "Obek" (may have been in Cyrillic) and another word, but each time I read it the word changes. I can feel myself sliding along a fixed path. I pass into a small office building with a desk and a man to my left - reminds me of college. The man sitting at the desk has a scary face, not just intimidating or creepy but instilling great fear. I overcome it and reach out to touch his hand as I pass by him in the way I'm being pulled. Can feel the sensation of touching it distinctly. I slide through an open doorway and to a hallway leading left and right, the track takes me left. I am then turned around and taken backwards (in the same direction as I was coming from while going through the office) and I pass into a warehouse/art studio/garage type building (lots of stuff here - canvas draped over boxes, easels, concrete floors, foggy windows with light coming through). I go forward until I stop at a distorted mannequin standing up against some stacked crates. In retrospect the face was disturbing, but I didn't think about it at the time. I use my hands with pinching gestures to change the facial features into an attractive female (her body changes from mannequin to living flesh). She is wearing a tee shirt and panties. There is a brief sexual encounter and then I wake up promptly (after a feeling of closing my dream eyes).

I'm with my girlfriend at a party and we're holding a balloon that's shaped like lips (one of the shiny ones you get from Dollar Tree) and arguing. It's an outdoor party and it's night time. There are snakes on the ground and in the trees. The non-lucid portion of this dream lasts a while and I'm separated from my girlfriend. All of the sudden I sit down, touch the grass, and become lucid. Visual clarity intensifies, and I examine the dream characters more closely, especially a girl with black hair which seems to have this hazy red aura (as if it was a red underdrawing). I am looking around at all the characters when I look past the back fence at a house with a light on in one of the windows and the outline/silhouette of someone. I'm transported there and I continue to observe. It's a small room with a raised stage with white linen borders. There are several people in the crowd standing and watching, a lot of them dressed in white (not all though, some in normal clothes). On the stage there are three girls dressed in white. They begin to undress and I wake up.

I'll add more tomorrow, trying to scrounge through my notes from that time.
    3. Lucid Dream - Morning of Dec 8, 2017

This was my first LD since joining DV!

I was looking out of the front door window of my childhood home (the drapes were pulled back, and the . It was a foggy night or early morning outside. I see my mom leaning up against the van she used to own, talking on her cell phone - the yard was longer than in reality (most spatial areas tend to be skewed and expanded in my dreams). It's also dark in my foyer, so I walk through into the living room. The furniture is a lot more crowded than my real living room, and I'm still psyched out from a previous dream about people hiding in my home, so I scan the dark room for signs of life. All of the sudden, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming!

Everything pops into vivid color. The dense furniture of the living room is gone and the only thing there is a long table close to the kitchen (the room is skewed longways). There's a huge amount of food on the table, so I approach it. I remember to rub my hands together, and the stabilization is amazing! The lights are now dim, but definitely on. I pick up a salt shaker, then a food item (an apple maybe?) remembering this tip, but it doesn't do much to stabilize the dream. While walking, my balance is kind of off (feeling all the sensations of my dream body is still new to me, as I've had plenty of brief moments of lucidity, but maybe 2-3 really vivid ones).

At this point I'm scared I'm going to lose the dream, so I fall to the ground on my hands and knees, and it helps a lot. I can hear a faint Christmas song coming from the kitchen (where the lights are off). I try to draw a door on the wood floors, and I see a faint white outline there, like when you press down on a computer screen. I wasn't clear with my intentions though, and halfway through drawing it, I get stuck somewhere between visualizing a deep ocean, then a deep ocean with a rock below and above. Because of my loose convictions, the door fails. I stand up and read a Christmas card that my family has taped to the door (or it might just be a decoration - they tend to do this kind of thing come Christmas). I remember what everyone says about text in dreams and read it once (nonse with a few real words in no clear order), then close it and read it again. The text changed! I thought, "Wow, that's neat!". Rather than fading back into a waking state, I feel as if I closed my dream eyes and simply popped into wakefulness.

As far as the process, I woke up about 5 hours into my sleep and used SSILD (I thought it was unsuccessful after doing it, as I was "too awake" and it took some time to get back to sleep). I'll definitely be doing this technique again! Although it was relatively short (20-30 seconds), it was one of my longest LDs yet! Very exciting stuff.

I also wrote some other non-lucid dreams in my phone, but I don't have time to transcribe them here right now. I'll try to be better about DJing, but I might have to add all entries for a week on a set day or something as it takes some time for me to write these out. That's it for now!
