    My First Lucid Dream

    Well,
I don't exactly know how to start this. But I joined this site because a friend recommended it to me, and he got me interested in Lucid Dreaming. I had already had Lucid Dreams before, without knowing it. Or well, dreams where I knew I was dreaming. But I'd never controlled my dreams, then, many nights ago I controlled a dream. I'll try to write it as vividly as I can, here I go:

    Pre-Realizing I was dreaming:
I was on a beach, with some friends. I was sitting in the sand, and wasn't really doing anything, just watching my friends. I can't specifically remember what they were doing, but I'm pretty sure they were just playing in the water. Splashing each other and such. Then suddenly, for whatever reason, (I think) I realized I was dreaming. Or at least, I lied down flat in the sand, but for some reason it felt like grass(I remember this very well for some reason).

Then suddenly I felt really weird, and though I didn't know it until hours after I'd woken up, I realized I was sort of... Feeling two things at once. I don't know how to put it, I guess it was my bed and the cover on top of me, and then the grassy sand. I saw my eyelids, or at least I think that's what I saw(again, didn't know this till after I woke up, I saw the colored splotches you see if you close your eyes for a little bit) and I suddenly knew I was dreaming. I was back on the beach, in the sand, and it felt like sand now for some reason. But my friends were gone, and there were no people.

After this it's hard to remember, I just remember being very powerful, and flying. I was flying over the beach, and then I was over... Not exactly a city, but a road by the beach, but even though it didn't look like a city, my brain said "city" to describe it. I remember being very strong, like I could lift anything. The friend who referred me said that people enjoyed doing the stuff from Avatar: The Last Airbender. I remember trying that, but I wasn't able to do it for some reason(I think, very hazy. I might have made this up post-dream).

Other then that the only thing that stood out was the fact that there were no people.

The Lucidity didn't last long, and the specific control was hard, it was like I was in control, but not really.

    I hope this made sense,
    Daniel

Welcome and congratulations! All that made perfect sense. The odd sensation of feeling two things at once is called double consciousness, and isn't all that uncommon.

Being able to fly is a really good start. I did that my second time (it was actually what made me realize that I was dreaming, which is kinda weird, but whatever). Bending is probably a little harder to pull off than flying, but keep practicing.
