    1. Israeli-Hamas Conflict Dream Series

      by , 11-29-2012 at 10:55 AM
      Background: I am an American studying in Israel, and an ex-Israeli army infantry soldier. I never saw combat, but I did serve my country when I was required to. I was not called into the reserve draft to possibly invade Gaza in the past few weeks during the recent flare up, but I did experience hearing a missile, hearing the air-raid siren, as well as hearing a boom, all over the place where I live/dream... which was like a living nightmare.

      PLEASE NOTE: these dreams I had last night were my absolute first time in Lucid dreaming. Began reading about it in the past few days and decided I want to create my old Lucid world... like in the movie Tron, where he creates his own world from a computer program. I'm focusing on remembering my dreams first, ate lots of Vitamin B6, was doing finger counting, nose plug, and many other reality checks all day, and I kept telling myself to remember my dreams while falling asleep.

      Dream 1:
      Sets down a long road with middle eastern apartments on the left and right side. What I see in the middle are many many Israeli soldiers prepping equipment, as far as the eye can see, with either duffle bags or combat vests. Far off on the right distance an open field with slight vegetation, and more housing in a fog. I assumed this was Gaza, and this was invasion preparation. I see some women prepping their gear also, as there is a special unit just for female combat infantry that in reality has trained along side my infantry unit, and I go to text my friends "wow, they're even sending in the women!". Eventually I start viewing the apartments on each side that are now de-facto military headquarters for the operation, and two US Marine officers are standing outside one, and one Israeli soldier goes "Let's give a big hand for our American military support!" and all the Israeli soldiers start clapping and cheering, then the Marines give a smile and a wave. I go back to prepping my gear but it is only my dress uniform, I have no combat gear, no weapon, nothing, just a dress-gear duffle bag, and I put it all back in a car I drove... which was a 1996 black Volvo Sedan (which I actually drove and totaled in high school)

      Dream 2:
      I do not remember the switch of scenery of how I got here. We are all sitting in that open desert field with vegetation, right before what it looks like to be Gaza. We are sitting in lawn chairs watching Arab and English speaking children (below age 10), play with a soccer ball, basically hanging out and smoking also. I somehow find a small yellow Nerf ball and start whipping it at my friends for fun, it zips fast to them, but does not hurt them.

      Dream 3: I go to the other side, away from the field, through the buildings, past the road with the soldiers prepping, and basically on the farthest side of the apartments, with my car. I park it and go inside one of the apartments, which now looks like the inside of a cabin in the woods of my old summer camp. A soldier comes whose face I recognize. He was a high ranking officer during my service that I was always intimidated by because he was basically the Colonel of our base. He once screamed at me for not knowing Hebrew enough (the national language of Israel). Now he comes into this dream, speaking Hebrew, walks into this Cabin with no shirt on... but his body is painted in camouflage paint. As he puts his hand on my shoulder, another soldier walks in who looks no older than 15, and very timid, speaking Hebrew with a huge American accent... and the officer says "DO YOU KNOW WHO THIS IS?" the timid solder replies "no", and he smiles and goes "this is one of my Americans", but he says it in perfect English, as if he was American, and then says "I'm a Philadelphia native!" So I get up to embrace him, as I always had thought he was just Israeli, but in this dream he's explaining to me that he was also an American in the Israeli army. In reality he is just Israeli of course.

      Dream 4: We are high on a cliff now and I am watching rockets from Gaza come to Israel. I start to scurry back to my base when I see an Arab teen doing the same thing as me. For some reason I am not wearing a shirt. I eventually hitch a ride back to the base, but there is no driver in the van I'm in. The van stops, and a rocket, which was spinning and out of control wizzes past the van. It lands way ahead of us, putting us out of danger, and explodes. We return to the base and I see the same high ranking officer I did before, who said he was from Phili. He is now wearing a drenched white t-shirt and army fatigue pants. I ask him "was it fun" and he replies back straight-faced "no, it was not fun at all" (looks like he removed his combat vest from his sweaty t-shirt and just returned from a mission in Gaza).

      Dream 5: All the middle street and the Apartments on each side are empty, no soldiers or equipment. I look to the Gazan border and I see two columns of soldiers lined up, pointing towards Gaza, as if the soldiers were about to march straight through the border. I now realize I have a combat vest on, with some equipment, but no weapon, and my vest is a light-command vest used for commanders in training, a few pouches here and there, but the rest of the soldiers have massive packs, are strapped with many weapons, and all have radio antennas sticking out from there packs, with head-microphones. I spend another few moments texting everyone I know to turn on the news, because all my friends and family are still in the US, but I don't tell them why to turn on the news. I then realize that most likely US news coverage won't pick this up immediately and that by the time everyone I know in the US sees a small clipping of news about this, everyone I know in Israel will have just invaded Gaza.

      ::End of Dreams::

      War is not why I wanted to learn lucid dreaming. I appreciate some adrenaline, defending my country and Call of Duty once in a while but... Like I said, I wanted to build my own universe, like in Tron. I guess this is the first step? Remembering and recording? 1) I had no control over anything in these dreams. 2) Dreams felt like watching a movie and every 10 seconds pressing fast forward for another 10 seconds. Go figure my first dreams are about the Israeli army... when I just spent 2 years in it and now I'm studying Counter-Terrorism at a university
