      Dream two

I am swimming in a giant pool, but that has waves and stretches out as far as I can see. It is as though the pool opens out into the ocean. The first thing I notice is a man and a woman in a large wood row boat to the right of me. They are married. They are being tossed by the waves into a pool-playground type thing that is out of place in such deep water. The man is saying to the woman how happy he is that they won the trip and how much he loves spending time with her. The woman then disappears and is replaced by someone else I don't remember. Then that person is replaced by the man's father who tells him how much fun it is to spend time with his son. The man complains, saying that he wanted to spend quality time with his wife.

At this time I am noticing that the waves are getting higher/more turbulent and I am swimming with a bright yellow sled as though it is a pool toy. I am wondering if I should try using it as a surf board when the two men's argument is interupted as a great white shark bumped into their boat as a wave crashed upon them.

I climb into my sled as I realize that there are multiple sharks in the water and atleast one has taken interest in me. My sled ofcourse, quickly sinks under my weight and is lost. As a shark comes towards me in an attempt to bite, I hit it in the nose as I'd watched Lara Croft do in tomb raider. I then grab it's right fin and haul myself onto it's back. I wrap my arms around itand then realize that there might be teeth there, so I rewind my dream, and mentally reposition myself behind it's dorsal fin and try to steer it with my knees and pressure on said fin.

(Note* I can remember being able to rewind some dreams since I was very young, and redo them. It's never quite conscious or lucid persay, and it's always the same situation, scene, etc, just altered to fit)

I become aware that the edge of the pool is somewhere off to my left and behind me. It is the deep end of the pool, and there is merely ad edge there, like the edge of a tub on a wall but thicker. I try to steer the shark in that general direction, but another shark is swimming at the one I am on in an attempt to get me. The shark I am struggling to stay on the back of, starts to dive straight downward and I launch myself off him in a fierce backstroke, aiming for the edge. I bump the corner perfectly with my head, and manage to clamber up so I am standing in the corner, with a foot on either edge just as a shark breaches the surface and tries to bite me. I move out of the way and brace myself against the far wall so as to have power behind me for it's next attempt.

When it next surfaces, I punch it in the nose again. However, it feels the way it always does when I punch in my dreams: weak, slow, ineffectual. It's as though my punch ends right before the surface I'm hitting begins, in this case, the shark. I next try kicking, to almost same effect. I then realize three things: 1. I am dreaming 2. I am waking up, and should probably continue to do so since I am probably late. 3. I can actually remember three dreams from one night! Rock!

One thing I found particularly interesting about this dream was the lack of emotion. It should have been scary, possibly even nightmare material. When I was first attacked I felt alarmed yes, but not terrified the way I should have been. When I was in a corner, repeatedly being attacked, I knew I was fully prepared to keep kicking or hitting the shark until it went away. There was barely any element of danger. I was rather surprised at my lack of emotion upon waking.. Any ideas?

For now I am going to continue merely practicing my dream recall and keeping a dream journal until it is regular enough to experiment with other things.
