    1. Middle of the night fragments

      by , 09-30-2011 at 10:07 AM
I'm out exploring an old abandoned hotel (something I've been doing lately IRL). It's big, elaborate, and has sort of teal green paint. It is completely destroyed and has no ceiling. I climb through the rubble and find an ancient cello, or a bass or something. It's in pretty good condition, and I consider taking it and selling it. I start to take some pictures, but before I can take many, I notice that a person driving a car notice me. He looks bothered, and he picks up his cell-phone. It looks like he's about to call the cops.

      Then I wake up.

Later on in the night, I'm with my friend Adam. We are trying to stop something from happening. There is a large cargo truck type thing (the kind that's used to transport troops back in like WWII or something) that is full of soldiers armed with WWII era gear. We are armed with some sort of bolt-action rifles. We hide behind a telephone pole and a rock, and begin to take pot shots at them. I don't remember killing anyone. They start to get out of the truck and overwhelm us, so we run away.

We run back to my neighborhood and all the way back to my house. Running is like slogging through molasses at this point. We catch our breath at our house, and we formulate a new plan. We decide we'll go a little ways up the hill. One of us will hide in the grass, and the other will take cover at the bottom of the hill. The one at the bottom will shoot at the truck as it comes down the hill, and the one behind with pop up and shoot them in the back while they're distracted.

I don't remember how this plan turned out.

    2. Fragments, Some Lucid?

      by , 09-29-2011 at 06:37 PM
Had a series of bizzare semi-lucid dreams during a nap. I say semi-lucid since I kept waking up and falling back to sleep, so it's difficult to say what of it was actually lucid and what was just my conscious imagination. I normally wouldn't even write this down, but I've been having a dry spell lately, so whatever.

The first fragment I remember is being on a road trip of some sort. That's literally all I remember. It wasn't lucid at all.

The second fragment is I was "in" Resident Evil 4. I was playing the re-release last night, so that's not particularly surprising. In the dream, the sort of "intel" woman that's on the radio tells me that I'm dreaming. The conversation took place in the normal game HUD that you see when having a radio conversation In any case, I'm not particularly surprised by this revelation. I ask her to keep reminding me, and if I'm ever dreaming again, to tell me.

I woke up then, and went back to sleep. In this one I was at a cafeteria, and a overhear a father talking to his son (I think the dad was John Goodman. Now -that's- unexpected). He's telling his son that the Binding of Isaac is an awful game and that is sacrilegious (true, I guess?) and encourages bullying (what?). Again, not surprising since I was playing that game literally 2 minutes before I went to sleep. This fragment wasn't lucid to my knowledge.

    3. Karate Batman

      by , 09-25-2011 at 01:12 PM
I'm in some large building and my friend Charles is with me. There's some sort of Mr. Miyagi type character there as well who is demonstrating his martial art skills. Charles (who is in to that sort of stuff IRL) decides to challenge him. They fight with those staff things. Charles puts up a good fight (getting in a few decent hits) but ultimately is defeated. I remember the blows looking particularly painful. Like one would "stab" the other with the staff and his flesh would bend and poke through the other side.

After the fight, I have a conversation with Charles. We try to discuss if he could beat Ryu from Street Fighter in a hand-to-hand fight. Charles asks how his skill is at avoiding and blocking chains of attacks. I explain to him that a "chain" or a "combo" in tournament fighter terms is by definition a series of hits that are unavoidable provided that the first hit connects. Since it's sort of a gaming abstraction, I reason that his skill at blocking chains must be assumed to be the same as Ryu's. My thought process is surprisingly clear and logical. A similar argument is made for Charles's inability to shoot hadoukens.

After this we all decide that it would be best to learn karate or something so that we can defend against bad guys. I'm then in a karate class. It's very embarrassing because I'm the only adult in a room full of 5 year olds. We do some drills that mainly consist of things I remember from basketball practices. Layups, foot dexterity drills, etc.

Suddenly, I'm Batman. Best plot twist ever.

The same Mr. Miyagi type character is my master who trained me. There are bad guys trying to kill him (I think I identify these attempts as having been made by the Joker?). At one point there is a bomb planted near him so I disarm it or get rid of it or something. Then they actually succeed in killing him. I chase down the bad guy and apprehend him. A funeral service is called to honor Mr. Miyagi's death by someone other than me. Everyone brings strawberry jam to the funeral because that's customary or something. They give Mr. Miyagi's corpse the jam and he is revived. Apparently jam is the cure to whatever poison that the bad guy gave him, and he himself called for the funeral service because he knew it would be the fastest way to get jam.

    4. Celebrities for Dinner

      by , 09-24-2011 at 02:48 PM
We're eating dinner at home and Keanu Reeves and the AVGN both show up. This is odd because I haven't seen any of these people in media in real life for months. In any case, they go through a buffet style serving table and get their food. I ask AVGN how he got all of the games that he reviews. I think I remember saying "Do you just get all of that crap of eBay, or what?" I don't get an answer, but Alisha (my fiancee) scolds me for even considering spending our money on crap like that (I wasn't actually considering that). As we eat, I seem to remember reading something about Reeves' life being awful or something (I think I really read something like this at one point...?) so I consider asking about it. However, I can't come up with a good way to ask that other than "Hey, does your life suck?", which I thought was weird.

Also, I seem to remember trying to build a 3DO from scratch with the AVGN's advice. I think it worked but I didn't have any games. Or it only had one built-in to the hardware. Or something.

Then I'm at my Bop-Bop's house (grandfather, mother's side) and I'm spending the night there. I'm playing some video games in the den or something, and Bop-Bop is sleeping in a chair. He wakes up to tell me that it was all a farce. Everything he's known was an illusion. I think he's just sleep talking, so I turn off my games and go upstairs. He follows me to the edge of the stairs and continues talking about the nature of life. All I can remember about his rant is that he's actually kind of making sense, but he's very sad that he's almost wasted his entire life.

    5. Muppets and Dogs

      by , 09-23-2011 at 02:47 PM
It was an long elaborate dream, but I forgot most of it until about 10 minutes after I woke up, so I'm just writing down the fragments I remember.

I'm in some sort of day camp where Mom has brought Oliver (our dog). He's going to stay there for a while. And there are muppets all over the place. Grover, Kermit, all those guys. A few of them are tiny. I remember them being very wild and unruly.

Also, I remember introducing myself to some girl that worked there, and some other guy was with me. I was... trying to manipulate her into doing something I think.

    6. Craig is a Blob

      by , 09-22-2011 at 05:48 PM
Just short fragment I had during an afternoon nap

Craig (a relative) starts to stick to things and himself. Like, he'd bend his arm and his forearm and upper arm would stick to each other. Eventually he sort of becomes an amorphous blob. He absorbs his whole family.

      Weird.
    7. Stalking Dr. Jeckyll?

      by , 09-22-2011 at 03:37 PM
I'm following a young man that I know to be in possession of a very valuable and dangerous potion that he will inevitably consume. I'm trying to keep him from drinking it. I follow him through a shopping mall sort of thing and follow him to a ... shoe department? He seems suspicious of me, and he has a friend with him. To throw off the suspicion, when we get to the food court, I don't sit facing him. Eventually, before I can apprehend him, he drinks the potion and turns into a huge Mr. Hyde-like monster. I know this monster will probably kill me, but I try to fight him. I also remember trying to evacuate the mall and save as many people as I can. I remember the monster being on a balcony type thing a few floors above me, and I know that I'm going to have to fight him right now.

Wow. That was a pretty epic dream I guess. Definitely unusual. Just fragments, though. Nothing that can really be used to derive a dream sign.
