    1. Bizzare zombie nightmare

      by , 10-20-2011 at 12:25 PM
EDIT #2 (ELABORATION): The end of the world has happened. I'm not sure exactly what caused it, but I think it involved zombies. All I know is that it's been long enough that everyone has kind of come to accept it. The disaster has something to do with zombies, or some sort of infectious monster. All I remember is that it was slow and gradual, and it did things to your body. (More body horror. Interesting that this comes up so much.) For some reason I'm thinking that the Joker is responsible for it. Or some other clown-themed villain maybe? In any case, the bad guy is throwing a party at my house for the monsters, and they start coming down the cul-de-sac an into my driveway. Most of them are driving vehicles and monster trucks. One monster in particular tries to run me over with a dunebuggy, but I leap out of the way.

The dunebuggy wrecks into a person standing next to me and it crushes his skull. I remember seeing the remains of his head, his jawbone, and a huge pool of blood. A friend of the victim says that he's keeping the remains so he can identify him later.

(This dream is interesting in that it's almost completely derived from things I've been doing lately. The zombies come from me watching Walking Dead, Joker is from Arkham City (which I recently bought), the party is related to a scene in the game, the dunebuggy is from me seeing RAGE, and the crushed skull and jawbone is from a scene in Breaking Bad (in which a man's skull was crushed with an ATM machine) I recently watched.)

      (Original Notes)
      Sleepy. Will elaborate later

It's the end of the world and we've all pretty muhc accepted it.
It has to do with zombies or something
      joker from Batman i sresponsible
go to smoeone's house for final advice for big "party" joker hosting at my house
      Given weapon of some sort
      Go home
Part is kind of like a monster truck rally
Most of the trucks drive down cul-de-sac and into driveaway
      Monster truck
One lady in a dunebuggy almost hits me and a few other people., but I stand up and dage.
      It's intentional
Crushes skull of one guy. I can see jawbone and lots of blood
Guy says he's keeping it so he can identify that person later

Edit: Remember reason for apocolypse: Everyone was infected with a sort of virus. In a few hours it turned you into a monster/zombie. There was body horror involved.

    2. Weird lucid dream after waking

      by , 10-16-2011 at 05:09 PM
I've totally been slacking lately with the dream journaling, but I figured I'd write this weird experience down. I woke up several times this morning, and kept immediately falling asleep. I was having this (non-lucid) dream about me and a friend (I don't know who) at a theme park type thing. It was huge and took up a whole canyon. The problem was that there were bad guys in the park that wanted to hurt us. So we fought the bad guys.

We kept finding "loot" as if we were playing a roguelike. I found a ring that let me fly, run incredibly fast, hit incredibly hard, and jump incredibly high. I used it to fight the bad guys, but if I ever used it for doing something other than fighting bad guys, it would disappear and I'd have to get it from the spot that I got it from last time. Over time, it burned my finger from over-use.

I woke up, remembered my dream briefly, and lied back in the bed with the intention of going back to sleep. I remembered what my dream was about very vividly, and I remembered exactly what I was doing when I stopped dreaming. So then I started imagining what would have happened if I had continued, kind of like a day dream. Over the next couple of minutes, my daydream became a real dream, and I basically picked up where I left off. But then I remembered that I was just daydreaming or something. So I tried to stabilize the dream. It worked. I could still feel myself lying in bed, but I wasn't seeing the back of my eyelids. I started running around, but I realized that I needed to go get the ring to be able to fly. But then I stopped myself and said "Wait, no I don't. This is my dream. I don't need to let a imaginary ring tell me what I can and can't do." So I started jumping and trying to hold myself there, and eventually I could kind of glide. But I wasn't completely successful. So I started running, and I could run as fast as I did with the ring.

I did some other stuff. Like, I went on the other side of the canyon, and using my new speed, I ran through this zoo exhibit thing they had over there. I remember goats, yaks, and something else. I think I was afraid of the yak. Which is funny because I did lose a level 8 character to a Yak last night on Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (a roguelike). I found a big slide ride, the lady there told me it was like a mile long, and I rode it. And it was cool.

Then I kamehameha'd some trees cause seriosuly, what's a good lucid dream without shooting laser beams. That didn't really work because I have a hard time imagining what a tree getting destroyed by a laser beam would look like.

    3. Lucid #3

      by , 10-05-2011 at 04:33 PM
I had my third real full-length lucid dream last night. I went to bed at 3:30 AM, and woke up at 10:30, decided that wasn't happening, and went back to bed. I slept again from 10:30 to 11:30.

It's hard to remember the events prior to me gaining lucidity. I was taking pictures of things, I think, but it was a problem somehow. I could only be let into certain areas at certain times. Also, I remember this really weird thing where these cartoon characters were getting together and ...cooking or something. But it was very exclusive. But then, someone else made a similar cooking thing that wasn't exclusive at all, and it was just as good.

Anyway, me and my roommate Charlie had to device a gauntlet of sorts. Kind of like an obstacle course for people riding skateboards. I had already done one and it was easy. Our scheme however, was to make everyone that did it die. Couldn't say why. We ran out of ramps, so we started drawing ramps on the air. I thought that was odd. When we were done I thought to myself "Wait a second... you can't draw on air. What's going on here?" The coach from my university was there helping us, and he said "Think... when was the last time you really saw me? You know I'm not here." (Implying that he looked funny because I couldn't remember him) I thought to myself "I'm dreaming!"

I remember my heart racing and I had to calm myself down. I rubbed my face up against the coach's jacket to stabilize myself. I could feel its leather pulling against my face. I looked around. I was in some sort of old barn. The ramps and stuff were gone. The last few lucid dreams I've had, I've immediately started to try to fly and shoot laserbeams out of my eyes, but that never works and I always wake myself up. So this time I just tried to look at my hands. They were there, but they were very far away. I usually don't have dreams in first person, so maybe that's why it was weird. As I looked around, I could feel my brain working to imagine what an old barn looked like. It was sort of like in a video game when you enter a new area, but it hasn't fully loaded yet and the textures gradually fill in.

My and Charlie started to walk away (because he wanted to, and I didn't know what to do) and I felt myself slipping away. I told Charlie to remind me that I was dreaming the next time he saw me. I have no earthly idea why I've done this twice now. I don't think it helps or anything. It just kinda comes out. I woke up and immediately wrote this down.

    4. Recovering a Stolen Gun

      by , 10-03-2011 at 02:59 PM
I've just moved in to college. I have a dorm room to myself that is very high up in an apartment building. For some reason, I'm really in to guns, as is my dad. In my room, I have a little porch that I can sit on with a chair, pool table, and a few other little things. It's shared with other people on my floor. I have 2 guns: a old repeating rifle, and a .22 caliber revolver. (I do not know anything about guns IRL, so I don't know if those terms make sense. It's just what I remember from the dream. I think I got them from video games) I leave to go do some things, and when I get back, the shiny silver revolver has been stolen. I ask around and the lunchlady (or janitor or something) says she might know who stole my gun. She hands me a picture with three ladies on it. They look like they're sitting on a park bench at night or something.

Someone suggests that I run this photograph through a computer so that it can identify the people for me. I know that this is nonsense. There's a few reverse image searches on the internet, but the probability that this random photograph (glossy, as if it was originally film) was posted on the web on a public site is basically nothing. But I run the picture through the computer anyway. I think it's hooked up to a police database or something. It comes up with names for all of the women. I then cross-reference these names with visitor records to the dorm, and find that they all came to the dorm a few days ago. I look up security footage for that day, and follow them around as best as I can. I notice that when they're close to my room, my gun is already missing.

So, then I go find the lady who was closest to my gun (by magic I guess?) and ask her if she's seen it. She gets nervous and says that she hasn't. I grab her arm, but my hand into her... umbrella and find my gun. I say that she's welcome to argue that this gun is hers, but I'll be confirming the registration, and I think that it will be a match to mine. She's also welcome to sue me for my methods of finding her, but she won't have much luck. After all, I didn't steal the photograph I used to identify her, and I used public resources.

Also, I remember going to my dad's house. He had a bunch of guns set up in the back of the house. Like 40 or so. Tons of boxes of ammo and stuff. I look around, find one that says "carbine" on it, and aim through the little scope. It's hard to see through it.

I also had another dream last night, but I only remember fragments. There was a huge sort of.. play pen complex. Kind of like those networks of tunnels and slides that you see at the kids section at McDonald's. I don't know what to call those. This thing is huge though. It's hundreds of stories high, and kind of inter-networked with an apartment building. I know that a woman lives up there in one of the glass domes that you can look out of, so I go trying to find her. I don't remember anything else about this part. Later I was exploring with my fiancee Alisha. We find a sort of ... dock thing. It's wooden and made out of that dark pine wood that docks are made out of. I think ships might have been involved.
    5. Karate Batman

      by , 09-25-2011 at 01:12 PM
I'm in some large building and my friend Charles is with me. There's some sort of Mr. Miyagi type character there as well who is demonstrating his martial art skills. Charles (who is in to that sort of stuff IRL) decides to challenge him. They fight with those staff things. Charles puts up a good fight (getting in a few decent hits) but ultimately is defeated. I remember the blows looking particularly painful. Like one would "stab" the other with the staff and his flesh would bend and poke through the other side.

After the fight, I have a conversation with Charles. We try to discuss if he could beat Ryu from Street Fighter in a hand-to-hand fight. Charles asks how his skill is at avoiding and blocking chains of attacks. I explain to him that a "chain" or a "combo" in tournament fighter terms is by definition a series of hits that are unavoidable provided that the first hit connects. Since it's sort of a gaming abstraction, I reason that his skill at blocking chains must be assumed to be the same as Ryu's. My thought process is surprisingly clear and logical. A similar argument is made for Charles's inability to shoot hadoukens.

After this we all decide that it would be best to learn karate or something so that we can defend against bad guys. I'm then in a karate class. It's very embarrassing because I'm the only adult in a room full of 5 year olds. We do some drills that mainly consist of things I remember from basketball practices. Layups, foot dexterity drills, etc.

Suddenly, I'm Batman. Best plot twist ever.

The same Mr. Miyagi type character is my master who trained me. There are bad guys trying to kill him (I think I identify these attempts as having been made by the Joker?). At one point there is a bomb planted near him so I disarm it or get rid of it or something. Then they actually succeed in killing him. I chase down the bad guy and apprehend him. A funeral service is called to honor Mr. Miyagi's death by someone other than me. Everyone brings strawberry jam to the funeral because that's customary or something. They give Mr. Miyagi's corpse the jam and he is revived. Apparently jam is the cure to whatever poison that the bad guy gave him, and he himself called for the funeral service because he knew it would be the fastest way to get jam.

    6. Celebrities for Dinner

      by , 09-24-2011 at 02:48 PM
We're eating dinner at home and Keanu Reeves and the AVGN both show up. This is odd because I haven't seen any of these people in media in real life for months. In any case, they go through a buffet style serving table and get their food. I ask AVGN how he got all of the games that he reviews. I think I remember saying "Do you just get all of that crap of eBay, or what?" I don't get an answer, but Alisha (my fiancee) scolds me for even considering spending our money on crap like that (I wasn't actually considering that). As we eat, I seem to remember reading something about Reeves' life being awful or something (I think I really read something like this at one point...?) so I consider asking about it. However, I can't come up with a good way to ask that other than "Hey, does your life suck?", which I thought was weird.

Also, I seem to remember trying to build a 3DO from scratch with the AVGN's advice. I think it worked but I didn't have any games. Or it only had one built-in to the hardware. Or something.

Then I'm at my Bop-Bop's house (grandfather, mother's side) and I'm spending the night there. I'm playing some video games in the den or something, and Bop-Bop is sleeping in a chair. He wakes up to tell me that it was all a farce. Everything he's known was an illusion. I think he's just sleep talking, so I turn off my games and go upstairs. He follows me to the edge of the stairs and continues talking about the nature of life. All I can remember about his rant is that he's actually kind of making sense, but he's very sad that he's almost wasted his entire life.
