      Peppermint tea?

Can drinking peppermint tea before bed help you to attain lucidity?
      Is this proven?

Umm, I know green tea helps, but I'm not sure about peppermint, might as well try it for yourself! Hopefully, if it works, it's better than green tea

Green tea? I didn't know that green tea did anything to help. I know it's claimed that peppermint tea helps you to recall your dreams much better, but I haven't noticed anything myself. There's lots of topics on this forum regarding it, have a bit of a hunt around and you're bound to find a lot of information.

Brian, in what way does green tea help? I've never heard of it dong anything, but if there is something I'd be keen to hear it. Cheers

Well, it's proven that the smell of mint increases your production of serotonin or one of the amino acids involved with serotonin (I forget )
And serotonin has a bridging effect on melatonin - both hormones have a massive impact on sleep and dreams
I can try find the link again, if you'd like.

I tried the tea out for a while, but I also used vicks vaporub (includes menthol - mint smell)
I seemed to have some good success the first few days, and then nothing

It may have a lot to do with the individual and their present levels of serotonin and melatonin. After all, some people have too much serotonin already

      Roller:

I wish I knew, ha. I can't remember whether it was mint tea or green, but now that I read Placebo's post, maybe it was mint. I don't know whether it was really a scientific effect or just a placebo effect ( ) but it helped with recall the few nights I tried it.

But that stuff wasn't for me, very nasty.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
