      Insomnia

Hello eveyone, I know this site is about lucid dreaming but I am having problems getting to sleep. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas that might help me get some more sleep so I can achieve LDs. I am trying to eliminate the stress in my life right now but being a single mom sure does not help matters. Any ideas would be great.

      Thanks

      Simple answer: Lavender.

Burn a lavender candle (safely, of course) or some lavender incense. Take a nice, warm bubble bath or shower with lavender soap. Lavender works wonders for cleansing the soul of disturbances so that you can get some rest. It cleanses, protects and shields from bad vibrations and negativity, including stress.

There are a billion other ways to overcome insomnia and strengthen your dreams, but this always worked for me. I’m a witch, so I tend to favor the old ways like herbs, candles, and incense. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. ^_^

      Very good idea Lost!

There are a few baby washes out there that contain lavender.

Huggies has one as does Johnson's. It may not only help you sleep but it will also make your skin super soft!! Plus a bath is always nice to relax!

      Here's wishing you sweet dreams

I’m going to take a more technical approach with less personality than the two above (lol). I would focus on your stress and try to eliminate it or reduce it to a minimum, what makes you stressful during the day? (i know it sounds easy to eliminate stress). It helps to write down things that make you stressgul. Focus on that stress that escalating feeling and see if you can change it by taking 'time out'. But even if you get 5 mintues to yourself just to 'unwind', it helps to gain a level of calm during any situation (looking after a baby, working etc)

If you have trouble sleeping i would seriously focus on 'chilling out' like A Lost Soul said, take a nice Lavender bath and relax!

Warm milk is also very good to disconnect you from stressful situations.

Its hard being a single mum (my sister is going to be a single mum in less than 2 weeks) maybe it would be beneficial if you could socialise more, like take evening off a week to meet other people, mums who are also single mums, some kind of group outside of your normal life etc.

Hope you manage to get it sorted

valerian root (capsules), melatonin, b6 supplements, st johns wort, kava......ive been pauged with insomnia the past 8 years, i dont think i live a stressful lifestyle...but i do know valerian root is harmless, easy on the liver, and is used most places as a sedative. if anything its nice to have them on nighs when sleep seems impossible.

Thanks for all the good suggestions and I will try them out and see which ones work best for me. I am trying to socialize more but I am new to this town and just have not met anyone new yet that I can just go out and hang with. Hopefully I can change all that, I am really shy but trying to overcome that as well. Anyways thanks for the ideas.

I just drink a cup tea somewhere were there's quiet to get myself to sleep. Of course I'm not living a stressful life so it might not do the trick for you.

Someone mentioned warm milk, though I always thought it was better to add some vanilla, treat it like Starbucks, lol, right before you crash. You might want to look into some meditation, though, especially if you're having more stress issues. It really does help, and sometimes you can teach yourself to be able to just make your mind shut down for the night and sleep.
