Thumbs up My guide to lucidity

Lately alot of people have been asking what my method is to attaining lucid dreams so i thought i would post it here so then if anyone asks again i don't have to explain it again, oh and to help you guys of course.

      So here it is.

I go to bed as normal then after a few hours sleep (at least two and a half hours i would say) i get out of bed (this is the hardest part) and go downstairs. I then watch some t.v and do some awareness checks, (check my surroundings) i do this for about 10-15 minutes until i feel my mind is awake enough then i return to bed. I then repeat to myself over and over that i will realize that i am dreaming, and i also picture myself becoming lucid several times.

What happens then 9/10 is that i have a dild soon after.

The only times i can recall this technique failing is when i didn't perform the technique right, when i have performed it correctly i don't think it has ever failed to give me a lucid.

If you want to become lucid using this technique you have to have to fully believe it is going to work otherwise it probably won't. Every time i use this technique i 100% believe i will have at least one lucid with it (there is no way it can fail) and thats how you have got to approach it.

Finally this technique won't be for everyone, it depends how susceptible you are to autosuggestion, i am very susceptible to it and thats why this technique works so well for me.

It's nothing special really, just Wbtb and Mild combined but it's damn effective (for me anyway) and it might be for you too.

      DILD(s) = 3

Third one was really short and unstable

I have alot more lucids when i use this technique. I am going to use it again tonight and hopefully it will bring as much success as it did last night.

It nearly failed last night because i stayed up for about 25 minutes which gave me trouble getting back to sleep, so then my mind started to wander but i managed to realize it and go back to my technique.

In the end it worked out great, because my mind was so alert i spotted i was dreaming 4 times i think it was. (3 or 4)

      Good luck.

      Thanks, mate.

Have you tried going on your computer instead of the TV? Or should it be more passive.

I just ask this because if I turn on the TV I may wake the people below me and they get very angry at 3 in the morning.

No i haven't but i was thinking about it yesterday but i don't want to change anything, but this could be as effective or even more effective because you are reading about lucid dreaming and will be fresh on your mind.

I'm going to try that tonight, on the PC, I'll be on dreamviews. You don't have to change anything because I'll let you know how I made out tommorow.

Hey man i'm gonna try this tonight!
Just wondering, can you wake up during REM period? like not 2 hours, more like 5 and a half or something?

I didn't quite understand the question but i think you mean can you do this technique after 5 hours or something instead of 2 or 3 hours. If you mean that yes you can, i do now and again.

Hope to hear of two successes in the morning.

I tryed to simplify the method this morning by changing it a little but i can safely say i won't be again because it resulted in 0 lucids.

It works all the time. Hey i know i'll change it.

I am just going to stick to the original technique from now on since it hasn't done me wrong so far.

So, you can guarantee me, if I do it right tonight, then I'll have a lucid?

      Of course.

No i can't guarantee you, it might not suit you as an individual but if you are susceptible to auto suggestion then this should work really well for you.

You have to believe 100% that it will work.

      Good luck.

Looking forward to reading about your lucid tomorrow.

I didn't get one last night. I think it could be because I did a few things wrong, like staying up a little too long and not being on my normal sleep schedule.

Some techniques are more suitable for different people, so don't let this discourage anyone.

I stayed up too long the night before last and it took me about an hour to get back to sleep but i managed to keep focus which payed off.

I would say about 10 minutes is the ideal time because you ain't too awake or tired.

What did you do while awake and what was the problem? Did your mind wander off topic or you couldn't get to sleep?

I think it's because I stayed up too long, at least 20 minutes. At first I was on dreamviews, but the last ten minutes I was doing random stuff, like checking my e-mail, facebook and watching a music video. I should probably do dream related stuff the whole time.

I think I got to sleep pretty quickly... I'm pretty sure I stayed up too long and off topic.

If I don't go out, I'll give it another try tonight doing it better.

The only problem with staying up too long is that you might have trouble returning to sleep so if you don't have trouble with that then staying up for 20 minutes won't be a problem. You would have a greater chance if you done dream related stuff but i don't all the time so it's not necessary.

If you fall asleep too quickly your intention might not be set so it is necessary to make sure you are awake enough before going back to bed. What i do is walk around my house which i find helps wake me up.

Alright, I'm off to try your technique for the second time, hopefully with better results.

      Wish me luck.
