      I'm so mad at myself

Well a few hours ago I just kind of went lucid, no reality checks or anything. So the first thing I did was try to gain control by looking at my hands. While looking at my hands, I thought of all the worst possible things I could think of at that moment.

Because of that, I woke up 2 seconds later, and I woke up extremely disappointed in myself.

How can I not think of scary things while in a lucid dream? I was so close, and it could of been my best lucid yet...

I do stuff like this sometimes. I'm no expert but I think its important to be brave and have a lot of confidence in your ability to succeed. For instance, in one of my first lucid dreams I got really excited and started flying. It was going fine until I remembered that the flying tutorial warned against flying too fast (because its hard to keep clarity). Right when I started doubting myself, I woke up.

It is probably easier said than done but I always try to be very confident and happy in dreams. After all, they are in MY head. Anything scary in a dream is a projection of YOUR subconscious mind. You have unknowingly created it. So by that same token, you can remove it.

Hope this helps a little bit!

Same thing happened to me recently, actually. I went lucid and realized I had to somehow stabilize the dream, but the only stabilization method I could remember at the time for whatever reason was spinning in place, and because I was talking to someone at the time in the dream I hesitated briefly because I wanted to continue the conversation and worried that spinning would change the scenery, and moments later the dream broke down. You've just gotta be confident like LDH said, I guess. Above all you have to remember that it's your dream, so you have total control.

Same thing happened to me this morning, sorta. I had a WILD that started with an FA in my room. For some reason in the dream I had this weird idea that something scary was going to burst through my door, so I rushed myself into trying to teleport out of my room before the dream had stabilized enough and woke up. Need to work on getting my dream control up again (it's been a while since I got into doing WILDs)
