Wierd Frustrating problem direectly after achieving lucidity

Ok lately everytime I have become lucid in a dream, no matter what I do like within ten seconds(if not almost immediatly) of becoming lucid everything starts to go black and I can't do anything.
The first few times I had experienced it I felt I was going to black and to get out of it I would awaken.

Then after quite a few times of this I though maybe my eyes were just closed in my dreams, so I opened my eyes and I saw my room, but I had trouble keeping my eye open and it would close, so I was like alright, unless I open my eyes and do something I cant be sure that im really awake. So I open my eyes and I was really awake.

I did have one dream where I became lucid and it started to go black, but then it stopped and I did like 50 RCs becasue they kept failing but I knew I was sleeping, then after I was ready I tried do do stuff and I couldnt do anything, I tried to teleport, no luck. I tried to summon people, no luck. I tried to use powers, no luck. I was trying pretty hard too and I was very lucid,

Any suggestions on how to regain ability to control my lucidity?

You could try telling yourself as you fall asleep, "Tonight I will have a vivid dream."

If your reality checks are failing, how do you know you're sleeping? What reality checks are you using? Have you tied plugging your nose and breathing? Simple, if you can breathe then you're dreaming.

Is it possible that you're falling in and out of sleep while trying all this, which is why you're not having much luck controlling your dream at all?

Also, you say you try 50 reality checks--maybe you're too caught up in this lucid dreaming stuff? To me it sounds like you're falling in and out of sleep all while trying reality checks over and over and over. This could put quite a bit of strain and stress on the brain, and that is something you do not want.

I suggest taking it easy. The more you obsess with becoming lucid, the less likely it'll ever happen when you want it to. And you certainly don't want to mess up your entire day from being groggy because you never got enough sleep that night.

      Hope this helps.

It's not as simple as that for me, that reality check failed a few times in one of my dreams.
I watch anime, that makes me different.

I think some of you are missing the question here:

Any suggestions on how to regain ability to control my lucidity? [/b]
it's not attaining lucidity, it's maintaining it.

Awhislyle - I've experienced this same "blackout" that you describe. It usually happens right at the onset or breakdown of the dream.

The best thing to do is first, relax. If you get excited or frustrated you're likely to lose the lucidity. If you just wait a little bit and pay attention to any sounds you may be hearing - eventually a dreamscape will fade in. Some people say that they simply imagine opening a door with the belief that there will be an outdoor scene behind it or something. Second, once you are lucid and there is a dreamscape established, try to interact with your surroundings as much as possible. The trick is to keep your mind busy and distracted to the fact that it is (in reality) lying back in bed. The more stuff you do in the dream - the longer your lucidity will last. Once you start feeling like it's all slipping away, do some of the tricks on maintaining lucidity posted here on the site.

Here's two of the most popular techniques in prolonging lucidity :
      1) Rubbing your hands together
      2) Spinning yourself around (standing up with arms extended)

I was dreaming becaue I was in my old house, I was just doing RCs to make myself feel better lol.

Ok last night I became lucid and as everything was going black I just kept rubbing my hands together and eveentually instead of black some previews for some made up tv show showed up and I kept rubbing my hands, and when the preview was over I was on the set as one of the actors, I took off a mask I was wearing and kept rubbing my hands, then I went on to do whatever you know, so I guess I just have to keep relaxed, dont assume im awake, and keep rubbing my hands

THanks for all of the suggestions guys, I think Im going to be be able to control my dreams for longer now.

edit* I think the movie preview thing may have been sort of HI becasue I felt like I could feel myself in bed a bit

Also in my dreams I heard a telephoner ring , then I woke up and I heard it ringing again and I jumped for it to answer it and it stopped just before I got to it, so I called my mom thinking it was her and she didnt answer so then I went back to sleep, then my parents woke me up like 2-3 hours later asking why I had called, becasue apparantly they had never called me or anything lol.

Hey, glad it worked for ya! I just got out of a lucid induced from a nap. I used the reading text RC and it worked. I flew around a bit and was excited at the thought of heading upstairs and engaging in some long overdue lucid sex -- but, the dream faded out! If only I would have practiced what I preached, I could have extended it! ARRGGH!!

      Ah well, maybe next time....

You know, Lucidity was never meant as a means of achieving complete control over Dreams. Lucidity was only an Awareness that one was dreaming. But the early Seminars and the Propheteering New Age Gurus thought that the Control Angle would be a big attraction... a huge money maker, and so they glamorized that aspect of Lucid Dreaming without really examining in detail whether it was substantially true or not.

      But it isn't.

The Dream Mind is very protective of ITS control of Dreaming. The Dreamer cannot be allowed to possess every creative influence within Dreams.

Dreams are supposed to the channels of Wisdom and Knowledge from our Higher Mind. But this can no longer be if a Dreamer could use some complete control in order to shut down Dreaming's Creative Sources.

So, while you are still fixated on destroying the Integrity of your Dreaming, your Higher Mind will fight you tooth and nail over this Lucidity.

If you want your Lucidity to come back, then you must come to an understanding with your Higher Mind as to what it will allow and concerning what you will try to attempt. There is probably an acceptable compromise that can be arrived at, where you will not attempt to interfer with some Essential Level of Dream Content while still being able to enjoy the realization that you are dreaming when you are dreaming, which, afterall, is the only intended purpose of Lucidity.

When you say hiher mind are you referring to the human brain as opposed to the mammilian and reptilian sections of out brain? If so, why is it that it has to exert control over the dream, isn't my logical mind the very same brain, so why can't I tell myself to let me do what ever I want, I always thought I was a peace with myself.

are you kidding (person that said you cant control dreams) dream control is simple and has nothing to do with some "higher mind"
