One problem I've never been able to get around in my LDs has been Device Failure. It is a handy dream sgin for inducing lucidity, but it doesn't ever go away, for me. If I try to drive a car, for example, I can usually get it to go roughly forward, but steering, well, that just isn't gonna happen in my dream world. Sometimes, as I'm driving, the car will start hovering a couple of feet off of the road, and then drift to one side or the other an fall over, or plow into something on the side of the road, or even nose into the ground and tumble end-over-end.
Guns won't fire, planes won't roll, pitch, or yaw properly, and boats will swim entirely of their own accord. Computers won't do ANYTHING, (I don't hold out much hope for fixing that,) and just about the only machine that does what it's supposed to is a bicycle.
Is there a way to make machines more reliable in a LD?
I suppose I don't really need machines in my dreams, as I can fly for transportation and just about anything else with my mind. If I have to transport other people with me, we usually just all hold hands and I fly them peter-pan style, but it would be nice to go for a drive, or fly a Harrier, or take the DeLorean back to the Mesozoic.
Anybody have any ideas?
