      Spinning?

I've read on several posts now that one way in order ensure you don't lose lucidity is to spin and then look at new surroundings.

Does this mean spin as one would normally do by standing on one's feet (and going dizzy)? or does it mean spin as in lying either on one's back or side and pivoting in the middle/pelvis area? Or even in mid-air (head over heels style)?

How do you spin (if it's not a rude question to ask).

I didn't know this before and am anxious to try it next time I seem to be losing lucidity but don't want to do it wrong

Spinning....like you did as a little kid until you couldn't stand up straight anymore! So, yes. Standing up, arms out, spinning as fast as you can.

Blimey! Quick answer Thanks a lot. Is direction of rotation important? Spin till I fall down? Or do I stop and see if the scenery around me has changed?

      Many thanks indeed 8)

Chances are you wont get dizzy and fall down unless you expect it. But the idea of spinning has a couple points behind it
      1) it helps focus your senses in the dream much like looking at hands ect
      2) the blurred images can be altered into a new scene upon stopping

So spin anyway you like but always tell yourself outloud if you can "I am dream when I stop spinning I am dreaming" or something like "I am dreaming and when I stop spinning I will be in [put some place you would like to be here]". Repeat this until you stop spinning and truly believe you will be in that new place because it is YOUR dream

PS- make sure you do a RC if you seem to end up in your room awake.

Thank you h0ju. It all starts to make sense now. Unfortunatey I have been experiencing a few dry spells just lately which is annoying me and if/when I get back into a LD, I will want to try and hold on to it for as long as possible.

      Cheers

I think spinning in dreaming is overrated- the results are too arbitrary, IMO. You don't need to spin to change dreams or increase lucidity, there are other better techniques than that.

well it definatly worked for me in my dream.
Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.
