100% Control - Is this your goal?

I mean control over absolutely everything, so nothing unexpected is ever forced on you unless you want it to. Control over other characters, settings, sounds, smells, everything around you. Do you want this? Why or why not? Do you think it's even possible? Is it healthy?

I think it probably is possible with practice. But I don't want it. I like having non-trivial challenges to overcome, and having unexpected things happen. I suspect that using such power would be harmful if it was done all the time, as you are displacing the subconscious mind in doing something it natually does, and I assume the natural function is something good and healthy. Of course, such a proficient lucid dreamer wouldn't have to exert this control over all his dreams. I think I'd be happy with just full control over myself (flying, running, clarifying the dream, stopping myself waking, remembering things, etc.).

Personally, I wouldn't want 100% control of my dreams. Way too much work to enjoy it. Some of the things I want to do is see how my characters in my comic act when I'm not pulling the strings, so I can't intervein unless I don't want it to work. Plus, fighting someone if you know exactly what they're going to do is pretty pathetic, because then you don't get the dreamed adrenaline rush, and it's not really a fight, but a spar.

I think it would not be possible. Our minds would rebound and just take oevr some things. I wouldnt even want complete contorl anyways. I get my enjoyment out of LDs from exploring the places and people where I am when i realize im Lucid.

If I did get 100% control I'd probably comand Dream characters to think for them selves anyway, wheres the fun in total control?

I think it's possible. And to some extend usefull/fun. But it would be less exiting/surprising becouse you know nothing is going to happen unless you want it.

The best thing to have is 100% control, including the power to make unexpected things happen =)

I think it's possible. I'm not trying to get it, but if it happens in one dream, I'm not going to stop it. I think it would still be kind of fun. It would just be like making a little mind movie for yourself to enjoy. I definitely wouldn't want it to happen often, but once in a while might be nice.

Plus, if you don't like it at the time, you have the power to give your control away, and make it a normal lucid or regular dream.

Pff, dream control is easy to get to. My goal would be 100% realism and lucidity. That would pwn.

its very possible and easy to attain (as long as the dreams pretty stable) but really you must ask yourself... whats the point? i mean yeah, this might be fun occasionally when you feel like your not controlling your life or something, but when your controlling everything you come to the realization that your not actually controlling anything at all, since your controlling that girl your f*cking telling your with your mind to love it then you see that that girl doesnt have a conciousness, shes just a mental construct designed by you and doing exactly what you mentally tell her to do, she becomes less a person and more a machine, or a psuedo human that youve placed there and are merely making yourself believe that she's enjoying it, by that time what your doing has lost its meaning...

this goes for the environment too, it you control all the smells and tastes and items all around you then, like the girl scenerio, it loses its luster and beauty

anyway im too lazy to reread this and see if it actually made sense so good luck finding a meaning it there
      -------

anyway i say that you should aim for stableness and lucidity, (100% of both) then exert small bits of dream control to get you places and make things appear, but no i would never want 100% control in all my dreams, i like chaos

I wouldn't recommend aspiring for such a great level of control. First off, for those just starting, that's a very daunting goal and it's too easy to become discouraged. Secondly, there's a lot your dreams have to offer that might be otherwise missed with perfect control...I mean, who wants to read a story when he or she already knows not only the ending, but every moment that leads up to it? I maintain that it's much more exciting to just be at the helm of your OWN actions, and then take on whatever your dream throws your way. Plus it's nice to change the scenery every now and then. Basically I look at it as throwing in all your own ingredients (i.e. having control over yourself, adding a desired scene, perhaps a specific situation, particular people) and then mixing them all together and seeing what happens.
Each new day is a chance to turn it all around.

What the boss said - it's the spontaneity that's fun.
Then again, I don't mind 100% control, as long as it doesn't destroy my subconscious' ability to throw curveballs and interesting twists my way.
If you just want to create and control things on whim, that's not nearly as fun. It might be useful to test out ideas though.

I think I have come pretty darn close to having complete control.. I don't have it yet but over the past 16 years..since my first LD..I have gotten to the point where I can control the people..what they wear..what they say..what they do.. the setting..the sounds..what I am wearing..Yes..all at once.
But let me tell you something..it is exhausting!!! On nights when I do this I wake up feeling like I haven't slept at all.
When you are dreaming..your subconscious takes over..giving your consciousnes a rest. But when you are lucid..your consciousness is not resting..thus..your brain gets no rest.
I have gotten to the point where I consciously decide to not control anything..to just let the dream happen. I am still aware I am dreaming though. But controling my dreams is so easy for me that it is hard to go an entire dream without controling something.
I actually wrote in my dream diary today about a couple expirences with that..one where I was about to give birth and thought to myself..I don't want to go through the pain..so suddenly I was waking up from a deep sleep and the nurse was telling me it was all over. I had controled that part just by thinking that. All it took was a thought.

      I would want it yes

i'm not sayin i would want it to be dominate over my dreams but i want because this is the only way i can fully control my body when im on another planet and if i can't have 100 percent at least 80 percent because its a lot of things that i would like to know in this world and also whats past this world. i'm a noob but if anybody has read what Credo Mutwa has said then you will understand why i want full control over my dreams but just like anybody else i want people to have their own emotions and do what they want to do. If you didnt read what Credo Mutwa said then i will give a link to the interview of who ever wants it.PEACEEEEEEEEE

100 % control, 100 % of the time...wouldn't want it (I feel pretty confident that that is not possible)

The ocassional full control dream springled here and there is certainly possible and I think would be enough to satisfy. But like mentioned before I love the curve balls that are thrown in by the SC

Why would I want it? Dreams are nice and lucid dreams are better, though if I were to have total control it would take away some of the more interesting aspects of my dreams, such as the characters. I'd hate for them to be my puppets, I like going and talking to them more. Also, random events in dreams I fince and have a deep personal meaning, I'd hate to miss out on those.

Achieving 100% dream control is good, it doesnt have to become the norm in your dreams though as you can just have 100% control over yourself.

I agree with you Alex D about the random events and their related meanings.

      probably possible.

as with most others, i wouldn't want full control.

just full awareness, and full control over my own actions.

in my opinion, the trippiest aspect of dreams is the subconscious manifestion which forms them.

I would like to have 100% control once or twice, if it is even possible. Just for the experience. Not all the time, however, as it's great fun when unexpected things happen in dreams
