      spinning to control dreams?

Last night was the first time that i was trying to induct a lucid dream. I've had them before but just naturally without trying to induct them.
So, in a couple of dreams, i actually realized that i was in a dream when i felt that i was waking up, so I started spinning. I've read in some articles that if you do that, you won't wake up. I tried doing that in like 3 or 4 dreams but i woke up anyway in all of them.
Can anybody tell me what i was doing wrong?
      Thanks for your help!!

Spinning doesn't always work for everyone. I know spinning almost never works for me. Some times you wait to long before spinning too, or its just time to wake up. Longer the dream goes on the harder it is to prolong it.

I tried spinning once, I felt the dream was fading, I ended up in a false awakening and lost lucidity.

I tried this a long time ago when I wasn't too great at LD'ing. Kept closing my eyes, which caused me to wake. I haven't tried it since.

Next time I hope that I remember that i've got to look at my hands and admire all the details. That seems to work for alot of people, and it'd be alot easier to do that then spinning.

I find yelling commands like "HIGHER LUCIDITY" or "MORE CLEAR" seems to work the best.

I only spin when I want to try and change my location. Otherwise I just look at my hands, rub them, or grab on to something when it is all fading, like a wall or such...
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

It could be HOW you're spinning

I know that when I try to spin using my feet that the dream fades, but if I spin very rapidly like a top, I gain 100% lucidity

      just a thought
