Heya, had another lucid dream last night and i would love some suggestions as i only can do a few things. Looking at my hands, crusing and talking to characters or flying is a breeze but when i try to do other things it dosnt work, i wake up or i have false awakings. I've tried to fire lightening boltz out of my hands, tried to make a friend apear and do the spining thing but it dosnt seem to be working. Is it just practice or do i have to believe that what im trying to achive is totally possible? Is my mind holding me back?

Also what is up with mirrors? Do you guys look different when you look in the mirror?

      Peace Sensi.

It seems like the things you can or can't do depends on a number of things, such as how lucid you are. Some times you just can't do something, others its very easy.

As for mirrors I always look normal.

There are individual differences...like i have problems with changing scenery, but i can fly really easily...
Now...lucid dreaming requires patience and dedication...

A lot of times you become lucid and dont have access to your "hard" memory. Thus you just dont remember what you wanted to do.

One thing which is *very* cool and very easy is just focusing on some object. Like once I pulled a gun from my pocket and just *looked* at it for a while - whoa! it was soooo cool .

another thing is - walk across rooms in your house with the intention to find some of your friends. I bet there will be someone.

One more thing is - try flying and when you get some decent altitude, choose and object, and think of "zooming" into it. Basically you feel yourself exponentially(sp?) accelerating. Thus the longer you think, the faster you go. I did it and it works *amazing*. I guess you can reach the stars using this method.

You can spend time performing various experiments. For example now I try standing before a door and shouting " when I will cross this door, I will have XX time long lucid dream". This seems to stabilize the dream and increase my lucidity level.

You may want to try dream sex but make sure you are *very* specific about whom you want to have sex with

PS I look somewhat strange in dream mirrors.

Does how lucid your dreams are have any significance on the ability to take control, as I stated before once I realize that it is a dream which the ones I remember becoming aware.
One dream I can recall it happening, I was in an old style mansion maybe it was a hotel or something like in and old movie, there were stairs leading up to the second floor, the ones similar to the ones in the house on the old beverly hilbillies show, wide at the bottom and kind of get narrow toward the top and blend in with the walking space in front of the rooms but in the dream once you get to the second floor you enter a hallway and then it changes to a more modern hallway with rooms on either side and the hallway extended far enough so that there were maybe twenty rooms on either side of the hallway though I didn't study the details of it thoroughly for this was before becoming aware, we had already climbed the stairs and walking down the hallway and I remember thinking that the people I was following were all couples and I was alone, then all of a sudden I became aware of it being a dream, I don't know of anything that I saw or touched that triggered this event, so once I became aware of the dream and knowing the previous thought, I thought to myself I'm gone find me a female and for some reason the room happened to be the room of some famous person but I knew he wasn't there but his wife was and she was an attractive lady, as soon as I entered the room and closed the door I turned to walk toward where she was and I woke up.
Don't ask me why I would think to do something like this cause I can assure you that in reality I would never disrespect anybody this way.

From the point I became aware of the dream and turned my attention elsewhere would have been twenty or thirty seconds at most. This is the common thing that I face once I become aware in dreams, for the ones I remember that is. I hope someone has some tips that may be helpful in keeping my in the door so to speak.
Sorry if this dream sounds kinda perved but it is the most recent one I can describe in this amount of detail.

      Hey,

      Thanks 4 your words.

The more im learning about being lucid the more lucid dreams i seem to be having. About 1 every few days.

Last nights one was qutie interesting....I became lucid and before i could do a RC my mind tricked me into thinking it was real and not a dream so i just lost lucidity. Later in the dream i decame lucid once again. It came on because i had a De'ja'vu. I was with a friend on a motorbike. I asked him to stop and pull over as i thought we were about to crash. As soon as we stoped i told him i was totally lucid and i wasnt dreaming and he turned to me and said "what your doing is really dangerous" Instead of freaking out and waking up i just let go of the dream and i saw the lights go down on the city and it all just faded away. Has anyone had and experince like that or a de'ja'vu in a lucid state? And why do people in my dreams tell me its not normal to be lucid or its dangerous? Is that my subconscious trying to control me with fear?

I think getting tips from you guys has been helping heaps and the more use to being lucid i become the less freaked out i am. My reactions to situations are less intense. Im sure with time and effort i will gain more contol.

As for mirrors i always look different in some way but now my hands are totally looking normal even still wearing my rings.

Lucid Sex, Hmmm, could be intersesting.

      Peace Sensi.

One thing that helps me do things that seem hard is reading this forum. Reading all the things other people can do helps to dispell the little subconcious voice that says "maybe it won't work". Also making anything just appear or change while you're looking at it takes practice and confidence, try walking into another room and expecting whatever you want to be there.

Mirrors are like anything else in your dream: controlled by your lower thoughts. If you look in a mirror wondering what you will look like you will definitely see something weird. I had a non-lucid dream when I was fairly young where I looked into a mirror and wondered if something scary might happen.. and of course it did: my reflection looked normal then suddenly gave me this big evil grin and winked at me.. woke me up right quick.

Also something you said in your post freaked me out a little, one of your dream characters said "What you're doing is dangerous".. I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain I've read more than one other post where someone's dream character said that word for word. But then maybe you read those posts too and your dream pulled it out of your memory.

to tekdawg: Sounds like your excitement is waking you up. Going lucid mid-dream for me is like picking up a good hand in poker, I immediately turn off any emotion and just act normal for a few seconds. As soon as you go lucid just stand there and look around at stuff, really stop and try to think about what's going on and wrap your mind around it. Then what I find helps is to touch the walls.. touch the floors, touch the doorknobs, touch anything you can get your hands on. Feel the textures and it might help to raise your lucidity and solidify the dream world around you. Then work slowly on doing stuff. For me doing anything too big too fast wakes me up every time.

Hope at least some of all that helps.

Thanx Vors, now that I think back it does seem that I always do try to take immediate action when I become lucid. I will definatly give it a try.

Better Luck Working with What Already Exists

I too, have had some difficulty "willing" something to occur. I also agree with the post that suggested closely examining the materials available, and it seems to solidify the dream and stabilize it.

I had a scary one the other day, though, where all images disappeared completely, and I was just lying on my bed in utter darkness but couldn't move (obviously still asleep).

It has actually happened a couple times since, and I have found spinning to be helpfuil.

The other day, I spun, and when I stopped, the building I was enclosed in now had one of its walls missing, leading to a beautiful lake. I decided to dive in to see what would happen when I went underwater.

It was exactly like being underwater. Very murky. Except that I found I could breathe.

As far as mirrors, the first time I saw a mirror while walking down a hallway, I floated over to it to see what I'd look like. I saw my own features, but distorted exactly like Alfred E. Newman from Mad Magazine. I actually laughed in the dream.

i used to have the problem of staying in my dream after i became lucid, and that's when i started researching LD's. just reading about it and other peoples experiences has helped a lot. now when i become lucid i just sit back for a second and take everything in (as mentioned above). i try not to have any expectations (like what i'm going to do or even that i'm going to stay lucid).. and that seems to help a lot.
last night before i went to sleep i kept telling myself that as soon as something happened that could only happen in a dream i would realise i was dreaming and become lucid. it worked! i had a dream that i left town without telling my boss and i realised that i would never do that and i must be dreaming. when i became lucid i just sat back and actually told my dream character that i was dreaming and he just laughed. i held lucidity for quite a while, it was the longest so far.
as far as looking in the mirror, i've never done it while lucid. maybe i'll try that tonight..
