Losing My Lucids

Everytime I've managed to obtain a lucid, i end up waking up very shortly afterwards. Usually what happens is once i realize im dreaming, i just start floating upwards quickly and uncontrollably and then everything goes black and i wake up what can i do about this? has anyone had a similiar experience? thanks

My best guess is that you get very excited when you become lucid. As soon as you know you are dreaming, focus on calming down. Rub your hands together, and for your first few lucids, just go with the flow. Don't try to do anything too dramatic. Hope that Helps!

Yah, try not to get excited, once your mind gets a feel for lucid dreaming you will naturally be able to stay in them longer anyway.

Yeah, you seem to be getting to excited, I guess the floating is your kind of side effect to show that. Stay calm, stare at your hands, check out your surroundings, rub your hands, touch the ground, etc. until you are certain that you won't over extert yourself, then go do all the great stuff you wanna do [fly, blow up stuff, teleport, summon, whatever you can think of]. But don't worry if this advice doesn't work because it's like Celoude said, you'll be able to stay in lucids naturally after an n amount of times you go through this lucid realization process.
