I had a gread LD last night which cleared up a lot of things I had been wondering about. I've had a lot of lucids but almost all have been very short -- I hope this will help out some people to stabilize their dreams and avoid waking up too soon.
In my dream I'm about to have sex with this girl but she just vanishes. I start to feel the material of the pillow that was behind her and realize I'm dreaming. At this point I see that in most of my non-lucid dreams tactile sensations are very minimal, but once I focus on them I often become lucid
The room is dark -- I usually lose lucidity quickly in this scenario. The door is locked and the lightswitch doesn't work, so I decide to kick the door down. Escaping from this room helps because I enter a room with much more lighting and things for me to focus on with my senses.
Soon after I find my dog. I'm petting her and I find that doing this, something that I would do in real life, makes my surroundings very stable. I feel her coat and look at her face and focus on how the "light spectrum" reflected by her body is wavering and shifting slightly in color.
I decide to look for a girl, but since the doors hadn't been very trustworthy, I thought I'd try something different. Walking through walls is very easy for me -- I just let it happen without thinking. But because I thought the dream might fade I chose to combine this with passive control. So I walk through one of the walls of the house I had been in and think to myself "there's probably going to be a girl behind this wall over here!"
I enter another building, this one was like a beautiful art gallery but with empty, white walls. A girl I knew in high school walks towards me, and I start to take her clothes off, and then I wake up.Then I realize the importance of foreplay
To sum up what I learned:
- Always spend some time (~20-30 sec.) to stop and completely take in your surroundings and all your senses once you become lucid
- Remember passive control
- Even if a RC fails follow up by increasing your awareness anyways. You might find that you're actually dreaming and have a more stable LD this way
I should also mention that this ended a week long dry spell, and last night I used both a B complex and garlic supplement together for the first time, and tried sleep yoga (sort of like a Tibetan version of WILDing).
