      Dream Guide?

      Hi, Newbie McNoob here.

I've come across the term 'dream guide' around this forum and I'm wondering if this refers to an actual conscious entity that inhabits dreams?

And if so, is the concept of a dream guide universally accepted throughout the lucid dreaming community?

I think the existence of a dream guide is universally accepted, but the meaning differs greatly. I believe that most here (myself included) assume that a dream guide is just a manifestation of your own subconscious... that is, they are no different than any other dream character except in the importance you place upon them. I think of them as merely important or recurring characters.

Some people attach more of a mystical intepretation to them, but I'll let them speak for themselves here.

There are differeing beliefs on what a 'dream guide' is. Personally I think that it's a load of old tosh and just people adding undue importance to a dream chatacter. Though some believe that it's a manifestation of the subconcious, while others think it's a spiritual being that watches over out dreams.

I agree with you to be honest, maybe you can make a dream character a personification of your subconsciousness (maybe...), but I'd highly doubt there's an actual sentient being that watches over your dreams.

Your lucid dreams (notice I said lucid specifically) are composed of what you believe and expect will happen and be true.

Simply, you decide if you have a DG or not.

Unless you are looking for scientific proof, in whch case there is none that I know of.

I notice that people who meet their dg are the ones who look for it, which could mean that they have a dg cause they expect to have one which kind of repeats what Tank says.
