Trapped

Has anyone ever had this experience: Your dreaming, and what seemed like an okay dream turns into a nightmare, and suddenly you can't control it and what's worse when you try, you can't wake from it. I had that experience and it is terrifying. Eventually I woke up. But since then I've wondered if anyone has had similar experiences? If anyone has please post here.

I haven't had a nightmare for a long time and I just learned about lucid dreaming, so no. I'm sure if you be creative, you can find a way out of it.

Are you talking about a lucid dream or a regular dream? How much experience do you have with lucid dreaming? How good is your dream control? If you have LD experience, do you find yourself confident in most of your lucids, or simply knowledgeable of the fact that it's a dream, or somewhere in between?

I had one just a few days ago, some guy with a mask was running after me with a hammer, and then when i was trapped i just said "go ahead kill me, its all a dream anyway", it was funny feeling when my skull cracked though kinda like a headache but i have no idea why i didn't try to stop him

Yeah, I had a similar experience like yours. I was simply walking around a building looking for my dream guide, and when I opened a door and asked this one guy if he was my dreamguide, he said no and attacked me. I tried all sorts of ways to wake up, but eventually I outran him and then forgot about him and lost lucidity then woke up.

It's really scary when that sort of thing happens and you can't wake up huh? My dream was I was trapped in my house and there was a monster chasing me. It cornered me in the kitchen and I tried waking up but it just kept getting closer, and just when it grabbed me I woke up.

Try to force your eyes open, I've read that that is a very effective technique. Or work on dream control so you are not afraid, but realize that it is just a dream. If this was happening to me in a lucid dream, I'd tell him I was tired of tag and ask if he wanted to go bake brownies or something. Totally change it up and create a positive mood, and his behavior will follow suit.

I never knew you could do that sort of thing in a nightmare. Cool!

Absolutely. One of my favorite lucid dreams: Someone is chasing me, and no matter what I do I can't escape. There is a guy behind me, in his mid-20s maybe, he is a white guy with dark brown hair. He is trying to apprehend me but he is definitely not a cop, more of a bad guy. I try to fly but know that he'll keep following me. I turn around and he is on the roof of the house (I am in the air above the house) ...eventually another guy, similar description but in his mid-30s ish, appears. He is the 1st guy's boss, and I know I'm fucked. I always have trouble escaping dream characters. Somehow they have me handcuffed, or something, and we are what is simultaneously the roof of my house above the guest room, and the sidewalk at the entrance to some kind of club/resteraunt. The boss is patting me down while the guy stands to our left...I tell them I'll make a deal with them to cooperate, and turn and face the young guy.... he wants to know what his half of the deal is... So I tell him, "Ok, then, how about every time that I'm dreaming, you show up and tell me it's a dream." He looks very relieved and asks what he gets in return. I tell him I'll cooperate competely, and just think, if I'm lucid, I'll really be able to give him good answers! He says it's a deal, and our relationship is now more like aquaintance-friends, no longer the cop-prisoner deal. We go inside, and we are seated at this table with about five other people. Essentially by being calm, and interacting with them on a friendly level, I managed to get my aggressive DC, who had just been trying to catch/kill me, to invite me to lunch.
