Some questions about dream control

Often, when I want to change the scenery in a dream (go somewhere else) I will picture a place in my mind, close my eyes, and start spinning. To my disappointment, I will often end up in a place very different from what I visualized. For instance, I was trying to conjure up a friends house last night (in a lucid) and found it was very hard to hold on to images I know are what her house looks like. For instance, when I pictured her living room and opened my eyes, parts of it were right, but where the tv is was a fireplace (lit) and a sofa across where the sliding doors are.

It's pretty frustrating. I didn't always have this much trouble visualizing things. Any ideas on what I can do to make this aspect of my dream control better?

Hmm... well, at least you can spin and remain in the dream, and actually get other places. That usually wakes me straight up Have you tried any other methods besides spinning? If you did something where your destination was defined ahead of time, like found it on a TV, or looked through a window and it was there, or looked at a photograph or poster, then all you'd have to do is climb through, keeping your sights on the proper goal?

Dreams are craziness. I know there are a lot of threads on the forums about working on and building up ones' ability to visualize. I guess your level of familiarity could also play a role. Does it really take away if some small bits of the dream are incorrect? Maybe just have fun and explore a house where there is a new fireplace when there shouldn't be!

I don't usually care if things aren't quite right, as long as it's close enough
and the ppl you want, are there. I think trying to make your dream-scapes
perfect would be asking too much from your mind.....your head might blow up
.....for real!

BTW.....I think it's JET73L, who visualizes some kind of dream-scape options
thing in his head, and picks one he wants and goes there that way.
(If I understand him correctly that is) Maybe you could even dream up
a machine with buttons on it, and each button is a different dream-scape
and when you press one you go there lol
Not sure if the scapes would be 100% perfect though. Even my own
bedroom is always a little off, and my house can become something
totally different without even wanting it to. I usually don't care and go
with it.

You're both right - I guess it doesn't matter if the dreamscapes are perfect. I am pretty terrible at visualizing though.
I do prefer it when the people I bring into my dreams look/act right. Otherwise I don't get the same feeling.
But sometimes they do. When they appear on their own they're usually right.

In the one pseudo? lucid dream I had, I was on the street and I wanted to get home in a flash. I tried to make myself just get there in a flash, but it didn't happen, couldn't get it to work. I sort of floated/flew there across the street. That was about as exciting as it got, though, alas.
