      Flying Troubles...

Hey, I've tried to fly almost every time I enter a lucid dream (it's my main goal), I've always either forgotten to do it, or I'm unable to do it.

I've tried pulling a jet pack out of my pocket to fly with. Turns out the jet pack was faulty.

I've tried running and jumping, but whenever I try to make fast movements like that, it feels like I'm wearing lead boots and I can hardly run or jump...

The one thing that worked for me was blowing air out of my mouth downwards, and the weird thing was that I wasn't lucid when I did it. But when I woke up, my throat felt kinda sore, like I had actually been blowing air out.

I also tried this one time whilst lucid, nothing...

I've read many tutorials on flying, many didn't work.

My dream brain is very illogical, even when I'm lucid, so if someone could come up with some weird back-ass ward way to fly, that would be great.

Well this is probably gunna sound weird, but what usually works for me is: I'll start running, and take massive steps, and then kinda....lean the top half of my body forward, and keep my feet from touching the floor. Starts off like gliding, but once you get used to the feeling you can kinda steer yourself upwards. Well that's what happens with me anyway.
Although I do remember one time when I wanted to fly I just climbed into this weird ball-shaped flying car thing. That seemed to work pretty well.
Though be warned, sometimes in lucids when I manage to get a floating thing going on, it's hard to stop and I'll just float up and up and up, and even though I know its a dream it still gives me an insane feeling of vertigo.

I can never manage to fly, but I can often manage to sort of mentally pick myself up (which is very slow), and then glide along with my arms outstretched. Unfortunately, most of my video game experiences come into play there and I careen towards the ground (sometimes I pull up)

the technique mentioned above for using a running start is generally what i do. i can consistently fly in dreams and usually its because of the running start that my body realizes that its not bound to the physical laws of the universe anymore. if it feels like your body is too heavy to move, try spinning around in circles when you first become lucid, it may help to stabalize you to the dream world a little better before you try anything fancy. finally, try to think about a place you want to fly TO. its possible that your trying to aimlessly float and if you imagined yourself flying to the roof of your house, it might help you will the flight out. good luck
dreams come and go like water to gold. the alchemist knows but the secret is old. shh.

Now, what if you start off running, and slowly increase your speed until you're running faster than you should be able to? (if it helps, you might want to try thinking that your body is a car, and you can try to feel the gas pedal beneath your foot, instead of feeling your legs run). Once you're running too fast to be possible in reality, try to slowly "lift off" like a plane does (you could even visualize yourself as a plane)

I've tried a running start, but it didn't work. I felt so sluggish...

I used to run and leap into the air but when I got to about 50 ft the momentum would run out and I would sink to the ground and wake up. Then I tried standing still, holding my arms out to the side and saying firmly 'up' and up I went. Then it is just a case of saying up, down, faster etc like you mean it.

My flight controls are always the same. I don't need to run to fly, I just kick my right leg up and off I go. Depending on where my limbs are positioned, I'll fly at different speeds/directions. My arms typically have to be to my sides, kinda like how Iron Man would fly.

Although since everyone else seems to fly via a running start, this may or may not work for you. Just use your legs! No need to jump!

That seems exactly the way my dream brain would think to fly...

I'll try this out in my next LD!

      Thanks,

      You're welcome. :-)

Speed shouldn't be hard to figure out once you manage to get into the sky. Though I should warn you about pesky telephone poles/wires! In my dreams, they seem to attract me towards them like a magnet, though only while flying.

Be sure to post your results!

Ah great, I would have never thought of telephone poles coming towards me, but now I will.

Oh, and I will post my results. But since I don't have many lucid dreams, it'll probably be a while. xD
