Absolute access to the unconcious mind?

When you are in a lucid dream you concious and unconcious mind are directly talking right? So do you have full access to your sub-concious mind. Can you take yourself back to lets say 3 years ago and examine a situation you were once in before an reason to find out if something was happening or if someone was planning to jump you by continously thinking it over in vivid detail?

Could you erase/alter memories? (Woudln't do it though lol)
Could you program yourself to be a new way. (Like tell yourself, that it is so easy to add 349092 + 3898982 or tell yourself that you are no longer like to talk and are a quiet person that can easily get along with others?)

      Are these possible?

What other possiblities are there that you can do.

      Fantastic.

That's actually a really awesome question. I'm very intrigued now.

I'm just going out on a limb here, but this is what I think...

I've heard stories where people who have gone through really tragic experiences actually have blocked the entire memory from their mind... and this was without lucid dreaming.

I imagine that if your intentions were strong enough, you could probably make yourself forget something. It might take an expert LDer, though.

I also really liked the question of changing yourself. I don't know about the whole math thing, but I definitely think that you can dream yourself as being very extroverted and that some of that will carry over into your waking life.

      Anyway, yeah... really interesting stuff...

If you could go do any of those things you suggest, Guidosoft, then perhaps lucid dreaming is another form of hypnosis. At least you could get the same results as hypnosis. There have been cases of scientists having solved problems in their dreams - they may not have been lucid dreams, but it all comes from the same well.

Another interesting topic. Deleting memories??????? Wow. Never thought of that.
Someone mentioned earlier today if meditation in a lucid dream is possible.

I know people that can sustain a high level of lucidity do indeed practice things such as becoming more sociable among other things.
It gives you a realm in which to make mistakes and have no reprecutions You can then just try again.

As far as memories, and deleting them, I am sure we all have some of them.
I can't think of a lucid dream loophole other than what Tornadoe Joe said as far as hypnosis.

But you could recreate that memory and relive it how you had wanted the outcome to be. Or confront the memory face to face and realize you are in control, not the memory.
It sounds odd to call a memory a thing. But just like a though it is a collection of events which make up the thought or memory.
