      Flying Fail

Well.. Last night I had my first lucid dream, I was walking along the road, and saw a strange street sign and thought "Hey I must be dreaming!".. So naturally my first impulse was to fly, I ran along the ground, jumped up into the air-and hit the ground with a hard "thud". To add insult to injury, I got detered by a false awakening right after that... Ironically, I went to tell someone about my awesome lucid dream. What can I do to increase dream control to the level where I can at least fly? This was really discouraging for my first lucid dream...

Don't feel bad about either, I've had about 13 LD's and I just slam into the ground and FA's get all of us at some point.

Wait... So I might never fly in an LD?

I've read some suggestions that if you're having difficulties with flying then to start out with something easier. Like run off a cliff and try gliding for instance.

In my case, I can fly a little ways, but gravity keeps tugging me downwards. No matter how much I tell myself I'm dreaming, there's no reason why I should be getting pulled down - it still happens.

Well, one thing I do well is levitating (I can't figure out why I can levitate, but not fly), so I thought maybe next time, I'll levitate first, then see if I can sprout some wings to fly around with.

OK That sounds good. I would have tried more stuff, but I had a FA right after I hit the ground

There isn't something that's impossible for a single person in dreams
