Tips for learning new tricks

I just had my first LD last night in which I tried to learn how to throw fireballs. In the dream I asked my brother how to make fireballs, and he taught me how to make these little colored dots appear in my fingers and shoot patterns onto walls. Unfortunately they werent actual fireballs like I wanted. I kept asking to teach me how to make fireballs but he never would tell me. How do I find out how to do stuff like this?

When I'm in doubt, I just look in a cupboard, in my pocket, or under a table and find magic pills that grant me the ability to do anything I want. For example, I can transform into something by taking a transformation pill (although I'm working on doing it by myself). Or you can become a superhero that has the power of fireballs. OR you can try wishing for it.
