So... I haven't been here for a while...

Been a member for a while and have finally figured out how to do a WAKE induced LD. When I want to LD, I guess I can. It comes at a cost though.

I can't do anything in them. I will know I am asleep and I always am in my bed. I will get up to start walking around or I will try to meet a person but it only lasts for about 5-10 seconds. I then black out and wake up in my bed again, except I am still dreaming again. This cycle will repeat 5-6 times until I wake up for real. I will always know that I am dreaming but am powerless to manipulate anything or to even have anything last long enough for something to happen. With each successive 'wake-up' the quality of the dream deteriorates.

I am going to hunt through these forums to see if I can find anything relevant to what I am looking for but it is frustrating. It was so hard for me to find a way to lucid dream, and now that I found a way to do it consistently when I want to do it, the quality is horrible...

Interesting. Twice in my life I have had these sort of "false awakening chains" and it can be a total nightmare to get out of them. Here is my advice:

      - If you start to black out, start touching an object. Rub your hands, or spin around.
      - Keep your emotions subtle. Don't get over excited, or angry, or sad. Strong motions can kill dreams.
      - Keep a focus on the dream world. Look around and pay attention to everything.
      - Avoid DCs for the first few moments of a dream. So many people countlessly get distracted by DCs and lose lucidity.
      - Do not dwell on the fact you may wake up, this could be causing it to happen. Believe that you will have a long and solid lucid dream.

That is so true about dcs, i can't count how many times i've let what dc's say or do make me loose lucidity, definitely make sure you stabalize the dream right after you are aware that you are dreaming, observe everything in your dream, except something that may scare you because as one of the tutorals say, nothing in your dreams in exists without your attention, i've had many dreams where when i stopped looking at something, they disappeared.

Thanks for the replies guys. I looked over some general info and realized that the not stabilizing my dreams upon starting could be the problem. I have never done this before but figured the next time I want to take a shot I will look at my hands and ask for more clarity. Have not ever bumped into a dream character yet. All of my dreams seem to be solo and I'm not sure if I can hear in them or not, everything sounds mute.

The emotions could be hurting me too. I haven't done this very frequently so when it does happen the first thought is "Holy crap! I'm here!" I suspect as I get more used to it, it will be easier to stay calm. I will get this one day. :-)

      Thanks for the advice.
