Thread: Gun dream

First of all a background on myself:
I'm a early 20's male college student. I own many guns and shoot on a regular basis for recreation. I own guns for target shooting, hunting, and for self defense.



The Dreams:
My dreams I want to ask about are never the exact same but all share a similar problem. For some reason or another in the dream, there is a "bad guy" or guys who are coming for me or something along those lines. The situations vary from home invasions to other situations but the end result is I use a gun to protect myself.

The most common result of shooting them is that my gun fires but the shots have no effect on the individual. Sometimes I am sure that I hit them multiple times but I don't even see a gunshot wound while other times I see the wounds but it appears to have no effect at all.

A less common but still recurring dream situation is where I am in the same types of situations as the first dream but no matter what I do I can't get my gun to fire.


Emotions:
I am a firm believer in the justification to use lethal force to defend ones self in situations where lethal force is legally and morally justified. All of the situations in these dreams fit under my moral justification and the legal justification for self defense in the state where I live. During all of these dreams, I have no thoughts that maybe I am not justified in shooting the individual to defend myself.

During the encounter, I am understandably frightened and concerned for my welfare. The emotions of fear are similar to what I would expect my feelings to be if the situation was real. My level of fear increases as either my shots have no effect or as I can't get my gun to work no matter what I do.
