My main focus is to identify a symbol or shape I saw in my dream. However, since the general consensus is that the whole dream be given, I guess I must write what I remember that lead up to the symbol/shape I saw in my dream.
I am walking in a surreal world - surreal in that it looked like a simple "cartoon" or computer-generated world. I was walking down what could be described as a sidewalk with two others. The "characters" I was with in the dream were just figures - shapes of a girl and a boy. They were "teenagers" or at least that's what I thought they were. They were youthful and "spirited". I felt happy, like I belonged to this.
The scene then turned from the surreal to a more defined view inside of a department store, and we're walking in one of the aisles - kind of like the old Woolworth's (for those that remember the place) - it was old-styled, 60's to 70's kind of motif of stores back then. My "character friends" became more like real people, but they were still faceless. All I knew is that one was a girl and one was a boy. I still felt happy, content and a sense of belonging. Through both segments of my dream, the people I was with were talking - just general talk, nothing memorable. Things that teenagers would talk about: school, friends, who likes who, etc.
Then, these "friends" stopped to look at stuff on the shelves of the store, but I kept walking down the aisle. I then went to look down at my hand. It was holding a cellphone and I was dialing a number. I don't know what the number was, but it was a number I was given by someone else.
When I looked up to see where I was going, I was exiting a room into a larger room - a commercial building space that was enormous with a very high glass ceiling and glass walls looking out into a very urban setting of modern buildings. Then someone answered the phone I was calling, when they said hello, I responded very jubilently - like I was very happy to talk to this person. However, what was going through my head was that I was not being myself - I was pretending to be someone else and the person on the other end of the phonecall didn't know I was not who he thought he was talking to. My thought was, "Wow, I can't believe I'm actually getting away with this!" I felt "empowered" that I was able to fool this person into thinking I was someone else he knew.
At this point, I thought that I was in a dream, and I woke myself from my dream. When I opened my eyes, I was in my bedroom, lying in my bed looking up at the ceiling. On the ceiling, there was my ceiling light with one of those glass "bowls" that is attached by a single center screwcap - it was square shaped and it had small glow-in-the-dark stickers on it. Across my white ceiling, were other glow-in-the-dark stars. when I was young, I had filled my ceiling with these glowing stickers to make a starscape across my ceiling so I could "sleep under the stars" when I went to bed.
The thing is, I haven't had those stars on the ceiling for many years. And the ceiling lamp that I saw on the ceiling had long been replaced with another one - no stars were stuck on the new lamp glass. I then realized that I was dreaming that I had awakened from the previous dream into myself as a young kid in my old bedroom.
Once I made that connection that I was still dreaming, my ceiling began to change - the stars got more bright green and they began to lose shape and became blobs of glowing green. The ceiling texture began to look more like stucco instead of the painted ceiling I have always had. I closed my eyes, then opened them again and the blobs of glowing green seemed to merge on the ceiling. when I focused on the spot where they were all converging, I though the shape it made looked like an "imperfect handprint" - like a child had dipped their hand in green paint and slammed it down on the ceiling. But it wasn't a full hand - just the four fingers, mushed and clumped together, no thumb and a partial palm print. I felt curious, I strained to see this shape in more detail. When I did, I blinked and the ceiling became dark and the glowing "handprint" became more focused in my view - it became my only view.
When that happened, I began to get scared. Once the fear started to rise, the handprint morphed into another four-pronged shape, then started to slide across the ceiling up towards my head! I got so scared at this point that I "shook" myself awake! When I did, I was awake in my actual room. When I looked at my clock, it was about 3:30 in the morning. I got up, got a drink, and immediately drew the shape that the handprint morphed into on a piece of paper. I then recreated it in Illustrator:
Does this symbol look like anything to anyone? Since I'm into graphic arts, illustration and animation, I feel it has some significance. I don't know much about ancient symbols, characters and languages so I'm hoping it might be familiar to someone else here who may say, "Hey, it looks like this...." then point me towards a picture or website so I may see - or unless you have an image yourself to match. Any help would be most appreciated.
