Need help to interpret Recurring Dream

I've been having this dream for years. The people and places are different every time, but there is always something evil chasing me. The "evil" always differs aswell, like once it was a ghost/shadow, then there was a wolf. The "evil" usually only threatens me but once or twice when one of my friends has been part of the dream it tried to harm them aswell and i tried to help them. I usually wake up in a cold sweat after one of these dreams and then dont sleep properly after that (they happen 5 out of 7 nights). I've been looking for some sort of help for 2 years now, just something that will help me understand it a little better.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? Let me ask you a few rhetorical starter questions and see if it does'nt stir somethings up.

Do you drink or do drugs?
Have you been treated for depression or any other mental illness?
Are you a survivor of abuse or other trauma?

Do not answer these in the forum they are meant for you to reflect. If you answered yes to any of them then that is where I think you should start. If life has been relatively uneventful but yet here are these dreams then I would ask you to consider carefully what the evil is. The next time you have this dream look at the evil, look right at it (it can't hurt you).

In fact,... here,... if you have the inkling that this is a demon or spirit or some supernatural thing tell it that Elijah Jones is not afraid of it. Once you look directly at it you will find power over it in your dream. When you find power over it in your dream it will lose its power in your waking life.

Don't be afraid of what you see (it can't hurt you) and if what you see is not something you are ready for simply acknowledging that it is there will make it go away for a while. But you cannot run from it because it is inside of you whatever it is you know where it came from. If the issues behind this thing are very serious then for your own sake seek out a professional counselor.

      Best Regards,

      EJ

      Good!

This is perhaps the most important of Dream Motifs, as it presents the most important Test you will need to pass.

The Monster that pursues you is Death, and all you have to do is stop running, face it, and let it kill you.

It is very important that surrender completely to it power. Fighting it will only prolong the Dream Motif. Just let it kill you, and it will all be over.

No, you will not really die. What you will discover, if you can prevent yourself from immediately awakening after your dream demise, is that after a minute or so of being dead on the ground, you will 'come around' and realize that you are still functioning and still conscious -- that you survived Death.

When I had that dream, and gave in to Death, and then realized I survived, for the next week I was murdered repeatedly and killed in any number of fashions, simply to reinforce and bring home to me that I was now virtually indestructable.

You must allow yourself to be killed by this Evil Thing in order to realize that Death, in your Dreams, has no power over you.

It will deliver you from all Fear.

Interesting - two totally different approaches are mentioned here in reply !

I can see the logic in it - The common point of the two replies here is that you need to confront it and remove your fear of it.
Personally I prefer to kick it's arse

As a child, I would succumb and be killed by nightmare creatures, before I even knew I could have control. But to be honest they still came back - it may have been because I was still afraid of it at the end.

Either way this means you need to turn this into a dreamsign, so you can have control to confront it in the first place
