      Familiar, yet, unknown World

For the past few years (3 or 4 years), i've been having the same settings in my dreams. i've seen them often enough now where i can actually go ahead and describe them very well, as if i lived there, or something like that. i've actually gone ahead and atempted to paint a few of them- which didn't turn out well, being that i'm no painter, lol. all together, i would say that there are 9 seperate places that i now know very well, yet have never been to any of them in real life.

i was just wondering if there was any point to why i have such detailed settings in my dreams, but, rarely do i ever do anything in my dream. it seems like all i do in the entire dream is recognize that i know this place very well, and pick up on the same details over and over again.

it seems like there's 2 things that happen anytime anything does happen-

first, im being chased. by who? i haven't got a clue... i don't know why im being chased either. it always seems like i've escaped from the chaser, and know how to get away (i know the hiding spots, where to move to next, etc.) those dreams never end with me successfully getting away, or getting caught. i always wake up in the middle of them.

the second type of dream i keep having is me drowning. ill be on the beach, and suddenly a wave will strike me down. i can feel myself spiraling under water, not knowing which way is the surface. i can feel my heart beating faster and faster as i continue to hold my breath. most times, ill wake up panting, and my heart will feel like it wants to jump out of my chest. once, i didn't wake up in time. as i was under water, i finally had to gasp for air.. and it worked. i can remember sitting there underwater, breathing just fine. at that moment, the dream was over.. i woke up, again, gasping for air.

sorry for the long post!!! i've searched around online, and have found some definitions of a few things, but figured i'd let you guys take a look and let me know if anything sounds important to pay attention to, or anything like that. thanks guys!

The Dreams of being chased and pursued are intimations of your own mortality. You are being chased by Death. What you need to do is turn and confront your pursuer and let him kill you. And then be careful not to wake up too quickly. You see, if you can only stay in the dream for some 20 seconds after you are 'killed' then you will find yourself coming back to life. And this will end this series of dreams -- that Dream Motif of being haunted by your Mortality.

You see, in the Reality of Dreaming you should know that you are deathless and cannot be killed... or rather not killed in any lasting fashion. This will give you a braver and more courageous outlook in all of your subsequent dreams

What makes you so sure its "Death" he's running from?Maybe what he's running from in his dream isn't so much "Death", but instead a problem he faces in real life (whether or not he acknowladges the problem) and instead of facing it, he's either ignoring it,avoiding it, and hoping it will go away,or he just doesn't realize the problem exists, but his mind is trying to tell him that it won't go away unless he confronts it and deals with it.

So strider, before you go letting something kill you in your dream, try to think real hard about something that is maybe bothering you in real life, and try to deal with that and come to terms with it and see if the chasing ends.

i've thought about any problem i might have to run away from, and honestly cannot come up with one. if there is a problem, i must not know it exists.. it may be subconsciously. while in these dreams.. it's almost as if i am getting an adrenaline rush, like i enjoy the escaping or something. i always seem to be just out of their grasp, i just don't know why! next time i have the dream, im going to try to stop myself from running and hiding. if i get anywhere else in these "chasing" dreams, ill post about it! thanks for the responses so far guys.
