Girlfriend Cheating on me in a dream

Hello, I'm new to forum and would like some input on this dream I had last night. My partner has cheated on me years and years ago, and I have had similar style dreams maybe once every 6 months and we have been together about 4-5 years (cheat was in the first year, split for a year and got back together) but all cut off maybe half way through. So the dream... Out in a field with about 30 other people. like a picnic style gathering. We didn't seem to know the people but got chatting to a group of them. I mentioned I wanted to head home as was hungry, and she said she will catch up with me. So I left with a mate and went into a building went upstairs and walked through a tube like corridoR, looked out of the window and saw my GF with her arm around another lad walking off behind a bush (his arm not around her I ran with my mate behind me through the building back down to where they went, seemed to take a while, and they came out from behind a bush and I confronted her asking her why she had her arm round him, and she said she had sex with him and cheated on me. I charged at this lad to the ground and started hitting him, blood coming from his face and my knuckles and he just started laughing. Then with 1 more punch he was knocked out. That part of the dream stopped there. It then went on several months down the line, I forgave my GF who in this dream was now an ex, and we was in her new place as I told her to get her own place after that even. So, i'm sat on the bunk bed with my legs dangling down, she is sat on a chair below with her back to the window which has a net curtain. and a few other friends in the room too just chatting away. I see out the window accross the street her new partner (the 1 she cheated on me with) on a step ladder against another house with binoculars with his friend below, and I said to my ex is that your fella? she said yes it is, he keeps spying on me when i'm not with him and with my friends. She rang his mobile and asked him why she is spying on her and he ended up leaving him. She then turns around to me and says that she is really sorry for what she has done and if I could forgive her and take her back. I said no to this as I do not want to be hurt again. That is where the dream ended. Of coarse when I woke up she was next to me, it was an upsetting dream but, it was also a good dream at the end. As for some reason I had a smile on my face when I said no to her about taking her back. Like as if a sense of satisfaction, that she realised she was wrong for doing what she did and that she wanted to come back but couldn't have something she messed up. It is still all confusing to me, and after anyone reading through this could maybe shed some light on it? Really appreciate any help Regards Dave

Dream interpretation can be tricky. That said, cheating dreams carry a lot of emotions. This one here is based on an event which actually transpired. Having been in your situation, what I chalk it all up to is the mind sorting through the situation. There might be elements you need to further process and acknowledge. It could just be digestive, the idea that the event happened and so you simply dreamed it. However the ending seems to signify the desire to have some control in the situation. Oftentimes when a partner cheats it's difficult to have any sort of feeling of control... here you told her no. You woke and found you enjoyed saying no to her. Sometimes we dream of things simply to experience them... to see if they're something we want to create in our waking lives. You can google this popular topic and see what comes up.
